Soon to be new Ranger owner
Hey whatsup I'm Daniel from Los Angeles. First things first, I've been a Ford and All-American guy since I was born. Here's a little list of the Fords my family has owned, my dad had a '73 Ram Air Mustang(with one of the first 7-digit plates in Cali, '73STANG'), and a '80 Mustang with a 460, my brother had a late 60's Ranchero(cant remember the exact year, he only had it for a couple months), '65 Mustang, and an '85 CS Convertable Stang, and an '86 Bronco, and a '71 Torino GT, my mom had a 65 T-bird when she was in hs, now she drives a '97 Explorer, I own a 2000 Taurus wagon that my aunt gave me, and lately it's been giving me a lot of crap. Friday afternoon my spark plug blew out of my engine taking the ignition coil with it, aluminum heads ftl. So I happen to break down close to a friends house and drove it over there, and we were talking about what to do and he offered to sell me his '87 ranger for $2000, So i'm either gonna try to fix my taurus and sell it for like 2500+ or sell it as is running on 5 pistons for a grand or so. Either way, I'm most likely getting a Ranger within a month.
A little about the ranger... I dont have very much information, just that it's an '87 extended cab, but they completely rebuilt the engine just a few weeks ago, it looks brand new and VERY clean. It's the 2.9 that I either want to throw in a turbo/supercharger or swap it for a 347 stroker, and probably bag it. These are just some thoughts of mine and I'm sure most of you will guide me with what I'm doing. I was pretty active in the taurus forums and they helped me a lot and I look foward to see what most of you have to say.
Thanks for reading and I'll have some pics up soon
Also a quick question about generations, I was never really into Rangers enough(before all this happened) to know about them, so I searched google which brought me to wiki and it said that first gen was from '83-'88, but I know that rangers go back into the 70's and maybe the 60's, so what's up with this? do the f100's not count? someone please fill me in.
and sorry for such a long introduction, i really didnt think i had all that much to say haha

I went back there yesterday and got some pics, the engine is the cleanest, interior needs work, and i'll do the body work myself, thinking of doing a blue/white 2-tone, white on top, and with the '05-'08 18" mustang gt rims in gloss black with, and i'll probably keep the bumpers and not go with roll-pans because EVERYONE who bags a truck goes with roll pans and it's getting boring, what do u all think about it?
