Truck You, JK! New Ranger :)
Just bought me a 98 Ford Ranger.
XLT Black 3.0l with 4x4 141,000. Grabbed it with a 92 Dakota trade in $4,700 which aint to bad imo from a dealer.
Just wanted to see if you guys have and friendly advice on the common problems to look out for on these things.
A little bit of my back ground is I've been working on cars since I was a kid for over 10 years and done a motor swap on my other car which is for fun.
I love trucks for getting to point a to b plus it carrys all my hockey equipment and drums :)
My old truck was a 92 Dakota and I literally bought that for $100 and it last me 5 years until it started falling apart.
TLDR:
Anyways basically I've always loved Rangers and had my heart set on a 98 and above with lower miles under $6,000 because I could never afford one beforehand. Finally found one that I had my goals set for color, engine size, 4x4, price, and miles.
Please let me know the things I should look out for that go wrong like the arm rest being broken on pretty much every Ranger out there. Also the dash lights are pretty much all out but the dealer wrote on paper to have them fixed. Everything else though for the most part works just fine.

pretty much have to break down everything including cymbal stands, it's very annoying and you pretty much have to have a bed cover.
So I got to find out today that she runs really hot at consistent higher speeds. I had cruise control on around 60 mph on the highway and the temp gage gets right up there just below the recommended heat range area, made me very nervous. I blasted the heat inside and it seemed to help a decent amount. Maybe it needs a coolant flush? IDK if the thermo is stuck close, I doubt it since I have an hour drive. The coolant looks pretty old and I think it's dex cooled which I never liked..
