Saying hi
I'm not a frequent visitor here, but I'll be glad to learn more about how to work on my ranger. I haven't updated my signatures or descriptions yet, but I will. I'm having a couple problems with my car right now though and I could use some advice. I have a 2002 3.0 V6. First, my clutch is starting to go bad. They are relatively inexpensive. If I can replace a torque converter easily enough, I should be able to figure out changing a clutch right? Also a few days a go I started getting a belt squeel. Well I replaced the belt and its still squeeling. It's not squeeling at idle, just higher RPM is making it squeel and its constant as I go down the road. Should I start looking at the tensioner going bad? I'll be waiting anxiously for help. thanks.

Before swapping out the tension pulley or idler pulley, get a Goodyear Gatorback belt. Better then the Motorcraft OE belts and gets rid of the squeal noise 9/10 times. A quick and cheap way to see if that corrects the squeal. Then from there if it's not resolved, swap the tension pulley then the idler pulley.
If you do a search on here for replacing the clutch, you'll find your answers.
