Truck trends of the 70's,80's,90's,e.t.c

Hey, y'all I was born "Late" into the game of truck modding and I want to know the different "trends" of the past few decades,

I am in between on bulding a Mild Prerunner/Rescue Rig with a Reasonably Built 2.3 Liter Turbo

Or

Follow the trend of the 90's for lifted trucks and buld my ranger a a sort of "Blast from the past" with some modern mods

Also I may be getting a '75 F-100 4x4 and like my other idea for my '95 ranger, I wanted a Blast form the past but I really don't know what "Truck Mods" were done in that era...

SO I guess my question is, What were the trends on truck modding from the 70's to now.

Thanks!

HR

Late 70's early 80's would be 15” 15 spoke turbine wheels are a must. Body flares, lots of square foglights (yellow) grill guard with no brush guards. Big metal towing bumpers in chrome. Scrolled pinstriping, Cheesy nick names painted on the tailgate like “Big Red” and your name on the door. Maybe a chrome swan hood ornament and a calvary charge horn.

And...modern interpretation....is HAWWWWT!!!! I wanna hit it...I'd own it...

IMO...roll bars, big tube bumpers, yellow light covers, on toyota's are TIMELESS.

damn, i was 18 in 1985 and the only "trend" i remember and did was the vehicle name banner at the top of the windshield. oh, wait, i remember lots of trucks having the flat running boards (not the nerf bars like they have now)

Basically I just described my uncles 1983 F150 that he bought new and customized new. He still has it and it is the cleanest 83 F150 on the planet. If the motor needed something fixed, he went to ford and had a new motor put in, if it started to rust, he went to Ziebart and had them fix it (he had it Ziebarted every year and almost every panel has been professionally repaired for free at least once. Now he just leaves it in his garage cause he is too afraid to get it scratched. A couple years ago the steering column became loose, he went to Ford and had a complete NOS steering column put in. The dealer kept telling him to just use a junkyard column and save a bunch of money "since it is an old pickup". He told them to just do it, he didn't care about the cost.

FWIW his Swan Hood ornament has lighted wings! LOL

^ Looks like this only red.

Haha ! I never seen a swan with green wings , they were always red or silver.
The bulldog I had on my 64 3/4 ton Chevy had the red eyes that lighted.

The other common mod in the 70's was
Small block out--BIG block in.
'course that was when they made REAL big blocks.
