Speakers in the jump seats?

I'm sure it's been done and I'd really like to see pictures if it has but I got some subs and an amp from a friend and they are in a box already but I was thinking about maybe taking out the jump seats and putting the speakers in them. I have a 98 xlt so it's only 2 door not 4 for the ext cab. And would I have to build a box around the speaker on the back side of the seat or could I just pack it with sound insulation.

i had that idea but it wouldnt sound good unless you box them in right.. and by right you would need to find the specs for your sub and what type box the speaker is designed for.. ported, sealed, bandpass and how many cu ft the box should be.. makes all the difference in how it sounds.. $500 speakers in the wrong box sound like crap.. too much work for me.. heres what i ended up doing https://www.ranger-forums.com/vehicl...3/#post2018605

EDIT: ok found someone else that did all the hard work already.. id say just find speakers designed for a small sealed encloser

would be cool if you could build a box that would fit inside the seat and bolt to the rear of inside the cab. I would take the insides of the seat apart and glue or staple the fabric inside the box and have some type of shelving from one seat to the other for the amp with the fiber optic plexiglass over top that yelleranger is talking about making

Is this custom made or pretty much the same as the ones I see on eBay?

Hey..I have a 98 and am currently doing that. Figured the back is only comfertable for one person anyways. So I'm designing mine and will have it fiberglassed and painted white to match my dash. Here are pictures of it being biult. The skeleton if you will. I've added a few pieces since. I've actually biult a airway path and have siliconed all seems to get a good enclosure. I just need to layu the fiberglass down now. I've never biult a box before, and i've never fiberglassed before. This may be poorly designed or whatever. I don't care its been fun and a learning experience either way. Kind of a make or break deal lol. Heres my progress a few days ago.

I did have do some grinding and I've been careful to try and fill all holes in the floor of the truck. Afterall, its a woods truck, it'll hit water. So I wont be putting in the most expensinve sub. I'm going to fiberglass the top white and brown carpet the base to match the current carpet.

I still don't have any idea. Have you done that? Please share the process

I know this topic is pretty old, but thought I'd post my pics for anyone who may stumble across this thread. Don't mind the messy backseat lol. I did a ****-poor job carpeting the passenger side box, and yea the driver side sub has a slight crack in it from my stupid ice scraper lol. But anyways, I built the boxes myself back in 2008, each box has a Rockford 8inch Punch. I love em, they hit pretty damn hard and sound pretty good.

Here is another idea for the rangers that have the half-doors on their ext. cab:

(These are NOT MINE - Just captured the pictures off here a while ago... I would go about this slightly different, but same basic concept)
