my beat up 88 ranger has some ugly looking rust around the rear fenders and on the bed of the truck by the brake light. i plan on cutting out the old metal and putting a fresh new layer of spray paint hahah but was wondering how good or bad you think it will work. i have novice welding skills and dont have a shaping hammer or any special tools like that. Got just a grinder, welder, and my muslce to shape the metal. i will try to get pictures posted as soon as i can.

i have a bunch of pieces of sheet metal lying around that i aquired for free. so i think ill use them instead of buying metal
