I'm still having great success with my Cobra 75. It's always running while I'm on the highway. Sometime during the summer I'll be installing a 2 meter ham radio in my truck for some extended coverage.
Here's my install thread and you can see where the cb is mounted.

I cut the cubby hole thing down flush with the contour of the dash, then made an L bracket for the left side of the radio right up against the airbag switch, then velcro'd the right side up. works perfect although I don't know if a stock shifter will clear the bottom edge, mine barley will and if I really stab it into the 3 forward gears I can make it hit. I also had to make a steel cover thing to go under the back of the CB to cover that thing that my OEM cupholders covered. It is a lot of work but defiantly worth it in my opinion.
That is by far my favorite spot. I had a Cobra 19dx mounted in the same place as cchsbuzz19 has his, then mounted a 29 LTD in front of the center console when I had my OEM seats and now I have a 29 NW WX ST that is in the pic.

I've had many antennas, and even more ways of mounting them. It depends on what kind you have and if you want one or 2 antennas. If your going duals I had made a set of brackets that fit in the front corners of the box that were held in with self tapping screws or 1/4`` bolts. I now have my dual whips mounted to my headache rack. I also have a wire whip centered on the back of the cab with a Wilson gumdrop mount for when I have my headache rack off. Firestik has a good page about antenna`s and how to calibrate them and problems and is very helpful. http://www.firestik.com/Tech_Docs.htm K-40 makes a good magnetic mount antenna also if you want it on your roof but I can`t find the one I`m talking about on the internet. But most important buy a good antenna and mount it properly and take your time setting your SWR (standing wave resistance). I will get pics of my old mounts since I`m going to the farm tonight.

I was gonna mention where Shane had his. Thanks.

And Trevor has it there too. I like it...not in the way, you can read all the ***** and ****. Only thing is if you got a OHC, doesn't work to well. Oh, and if you are making a really tight turn, the mic will slide out and hit the passenger in the head. Ask me how i know. lul
(but that issue is easily fixable).
