Another 2x4 to 4x4 conversion

I searched and it seems that it is year specific on how easy it is? I don't really know.
I have an 06 ranger with the 3.0 and manual tranny.
Would I be able to just go to the junk yard and pull out some 4x4 parts and swap the ****?

Please let me know what you guys think, I've never done that type of work before.

It would likely be far easier to look for a cheap 4x4 instead...

Oh wow. Ok, there are a few ways to 4x4 swap.

There are 2 main options: IFS 4x4, SFA 4x4
Either way you will need the front axle, transfer case, suspension components, 4x4 transmission, and both drive shafts. Plus knowledge and tools.

For IFS 4x4 you either need to own a 2006 Ford Ranger Sport which means it would have this logo on the back in which case you have the torsion bar front suspension, if that is the case you can mount a IFS front axle in and swap to 4x4 knuckles and such:

Or you have an XL or XLT with the coil spring suspension (best identified which the last of Sport emblem or chrome bumpers or flat black bumpers) to have IFS 4x4 you would have to swap to a 4x4 frame that has the torsion bar suspension.

Or for solid front axle 4x4 you can have any Ranger and you cut off the whole front suspension and mount a solid axle from a solid axle vehicle like a Jeep or an old F-150 from the 70s.

If you didn't understand any of the above text you have zero business thinking about doing a 4x4 swap.

I'm not trying to sound like an *** about this, but just being honest. If you dont know what model truck your driving the task of swapping it to 4wd is probably beyond what you should even try. Like I said not trying to be an ***.

I was thinking that also but I figured I would give them a fair chance and tell them their options. Plus I like flexing my Ranger knowledge muscle lol it's always a plus when I actually know what I'm talking about

If you have a 2006 Extended Cab Sport let me know, because I'm wanting to convert my Ranger to a
2WD.
I would probably let all my 4X4 parts go for as little as $700 just because I had a bad experience replacing some hub units.
