Fake exhaust smoke without modding the engine?

Hey guys i recently came up with idea of a fake exhaust smoke. I got to thinking, fog machine produce fog by heating up then turning fog juice into a vapor. Well if your exhaust pipe gets hot it might do the same thing right? I was wondering if i could get some opinions to my idea or have some help finding if there is already a product or DIY out there that already did this.

In theory you just have to reaching boiling temperature(212 degrees farenheight for those you didn't pass elementary school) to boil it and turn water to vapor, i believe that an exhaust could reach that in theory

Actually "fog machines" need to be at approx 220deg C, not F, so 430degF to vaporize the mineral oil, glycol(or glycerin) and water mixture.

Cat converter only starts working at 500degF, so exhaust system is plenty hot enough, actually too hot.

This "smoke" dissipates fairly fast so a moving vehicle or even outdoors wouldn't work well.

Burning gasoline with oxygen makes water vapor, that is why exhaust systems rust from the inside out, and you get water dripping from the tail pipe.
And when outside temp is cold enough all exhaust systems "smoke", water vapor cools down fast and condenses.

You would have better luck getting a bigger Fog machine with wired remote and install that under the truck with a tube to tail pipe, and make smoke that way

And here are some more ideas: http://www.instructables.com/answers...E-SMOKESCREEN/

I'm all for custom; but I'm genuinely curious. Why? Smoke out the tail pipe 99% of the time means something's wrong.

Your truck, you do as you please, but I feel that there's a little loss of context; like there's something this mod is referencing.

....now FIRE on the other hand... Fire always looks awesome.

I'll also echo the sentiments already posted.

I drive a higher mileage Ranger and abide by the general notion that the "smoke" or fumes coming from my exhaust, the smell and color and other factors, can help me keep an eye on the health of my engine or any looming problems that need addressed.

I am thinking about a periodical effect, ill only use it once in a blue moon

Unless you love the look of a severely blown head gasket, I'm going to assume you're trying to make your truck look like a diesel. In that case, you'd have to find a way to dye the plume of quickly-dissipating steam coming out of your exhaust.

...Or you could buy a diesel. The 2.2 Mazda/Perkins that came in early Rangers was the internal combustion equivalent of a perpetuated cough; but I'm sure you could "turn up" the injection pump enough to make all the smoke you'd like.

I guess I still cant grasp why you would want the look of smoke coming out your tail pipe.

Hahaha I completely get it, I'm just giving you a hard time. I got a good laugh out of this thread this morning. We've all done stupid stuff with cars/trucks.
