Icon5 88 4wd vs 93 2wd

ok guys i have had huge plans for my little 93 but.....
the other day my torque converter locked up and at 245,*** miles i realized at this rate im gonna be spending more time and money fixing everything that keeps breaking sooo...
i got on craigslist just lookin around and i found a 88 ranger 4x4 with a 91 2.9 liter V6 for 2000 bucks and it looks nice but i was wanting some opions/advice on what you guys think

From everything ive ever read...the 2.9l can be a troublesome motor...known for leaking. cracked heads from overheating. Other then that...if its in good condition..its 4wd...that saves you some effort on a off road truck

if you lived in southern BC i'd take your 93 off your hands for REALLY CHEAP!!!! like damn near free haha i could use some parts. haha oh post the link to the 88.

compare the two vehicles, the 3.0 is way better than the 2.9 stay away from that motor. and if that truck is old with alot of miles to. why trade in a newer vehicle for an older one unless its a better vehicle in which infact it may not be. and its cheaper over time to rebuild your car then to buy others. hence which is why i put in new stuff into mine.

1988 Ford Ranger 4x4 this is the 88 i have been looking at
BTW i called the guy and he said it only had 65,000 miles on it

An 88 ranger with only 65k miles? I dont really believe that unless that truck has had problems it's entire life and been mostly garage driven...Rangers arent exactly weekend toys, unless they are strictly off-roaders.

he said hes done a bunch of rebuilding. All it needs now is brakes
