Washer Fluid heater

I've noticed that alot of newer higher end cars have this and it isn't a bad idea on frosty/snowy winter days. I wonder how you could adapt such an idea to a Ranger? I don't know if it's an internal tank heater on a thermostat or just a blanket around the tank itself.

i remember this from like 2 years ago but i forget the exact steps.... you just had to reroute the tank somewhere close to the engine so that it would abosrb the heat from it or something... try a search but it may not be on the site anymore because i remember it back in 04

On my old truck (haven't tried it on this one), I got a big long flexible piece of washer hose and wrapped it around the heater hose a bunch of times. This actually worked pretty good.

^^^ An old trick and it does help once the coolant begins to warm up.

I saw a guy route a hose over the top of his radiator to get heat. Would be a great way to heat up the windshield so the defroster works better.

ive always thought that too but im really doubting it now, just because id think that it would be able to handle a temp change fairly well considering... but then again ive never tried it...

only problem is that by the time your engine is hot enough for it to heat the fluid, your defrosters have done the job...

canadian tire sells them i've seen them many times i believe you hook up to the battery and connect your supply to one side and out the other side comes warm-hot fluid which goes to your sprayers on the hood.

You could just get Mr CLean's washer fluid that has some time of defroster in it to prevent freezing and helps melt away the snow on the windows. I have never tried it since I live in Florida. But I saw it on Two Guys Garage today.

If its -45 I would be more worried about the oil in the pan turning into a bowl of jello than getting the frost/ice off my windows. Just get some washer fluid with de-icer in it and call it a day. I prefer Rain-X De-icer fluid myself. Gets rid of ice fast, and adds a layer of rain-X to your windsheild every time you use the washer.
