Hood Damper Idea, Prop Free hood?

OK this idea could or couldnt work. I think it's more about how much heavier one of the hoods could be. I personally hate having the prop, im always thinking one day I'm going to move it and the Edge hood will hit me, and I can imagine that it wont feel all that good.

My idea would be to swap the hinges off the Ranger for an explorer with the built in dampers. As far as I can tell they look like a few holes would have to be drilled, or could you just weld them in place?

yeah i'd settle for a quick lift kit from Wayne.. the explorer hinges would be nice, but i'd be afraid to mis-align them when mounting them to the ranger.

the other kit seems a lot easier to install, and you dont have to worry about aligning the hood

I was looking into this as well (the explorer hood struts), i'll check the mounts on one the next time im at a junk yard and compare them to mine. Im not wanting to get a kit from 'Wayne' anytime soon, I dont spend enough time under the hood to be shelling out 70 bux just to keep it open, the free hood prop does a good job for now- I just like the idea of fabbing up something myself as a challenge..

Those hinges won't fit our Rangers, They are too wide. Fuzz and I noticed it at a Junk yard and we measured and they won't fit.
