An On-going List of mods

I am currently in the process of making a custom headache rack with 2" square tubing for the frame and I would like to do a spiderweb covering the whole back glass. 1/4" plate possibly?
A custom bull/brushguard.
Lift it up a little more and put some 33's on her.
I think this is all i have so far.
I will try to post picks of the headache rack when I can.
I'm also wanting to put an exhaust on but i don't know what would sound good on a 4.0 v6

That much 1/4" plate will be heavy as hell. You may want to look at using 1/4" rod and cutting/bending it into a web. Even 1/8" plate will be stong enough to protect the glass and be half the weight.

Yeah, 1/4" will be overkill.

Is the spiderweb plate design just for looks? Or protection?

A little of both, I haul wood and would like for it to be strong enough to withstand bending if a log gets thrown into it or something.

I think 2" tube is over kill as well. Remeber to desicn it to be strong but light. Too much weight will just be a pain to deal with. Too much bulk will look funny too.

Too small will look funny too. I'm wanting to run it along the length of the bed and raised a little and have angled pieces of tubing that go from the cab to the raised tubing.
Should I upload a pic of the drawing I've got?

Posting pics of your drawing would be great. I dig this kind of stuff, too many years in a machine/welding shop I guess.

I think its a good start. I dont think you need the brace to come back that far nor do you need it to go all the way to the top of the rack. I would put in a 4"X4" peice of 1/4" plate cut at a 45 degree angle in the corner and call it good. I would also get rid of the raised part and replace that with 2"x3" angle iron. Make sure you box weld everything so no water can get inside the tube.

That brace is just for pretties lol, and the raised part is so i can stack wood a little higher. Actually that "brace" is to allow for wood to be stacked higher as well.

OK, am starting to understand what you have going. How are you going to mount it to the truck?

A piece of plate running down the bed under the raised part.

Ok, That will work. I ould probably go with 2x3 angle iron than just plate. It will protect your bed rails better and be easier to mount. I still think 1" tube would be more than strong enough and look just fine.
