mounting plate behind front bumper

i had did this a while ago when i had my old XL bumper, and never did it again when i got my edge bumper, but thinking about doing it agaijn, and need a little direction on how to do this once again, and not sure on how i did this

this is what i did:

any help is appreciated, and the answer to taking it off completely is a no, and no to putting it in the windshield, the state law says it must be on the front of the vehicle

had my plates run by a cop once and he didnt say anything about it, he used the front one. you can see it clearly when youre driving, maybe not now so much because i have the hellas that kinda block the plate but oh well, ive got a front plate thats visible.

i had to take the bumper off, and do some work on it... the plate is offset... didn't have a drill to center it, but oh well, looks good

could be illegal. many states require that the plates letters/numbers as well as the states name and month/ year tabs be visible.

in ohio the front just needs to be the numbers/letters, no county number or renewal date on the front plates here

actually the only thing that sucked about mounting it there is last night we got a *** load of snow dropped on us, and after about 30 mins of driving in the snow, half the opening on the bumper was chucked full of snow.......lol

I didn't read any others posts, but how do the cops know you've got current plates if they can't see the tags? Just curious.

That's a good question.....
All I know is I'm not gonna take any chances lol, gonna keep it up front with the whole thing visible....
tho this idea is attempting, I guess I could ask a state trooper sometime.

im not sure of other states but in ohio we only have 1 county sticker and one renewal sticker and they both go on the back. Front plate has no renewal or county sticker, just a stupid law that is pointless

No person who is the owner or operator of a motor vehicle shall fail to display in plain view on the front and rear of the motor vehicle the distinctive number and registration mark, including any county identification sticker and any validation sticker issued under sections 4503.19 and 4503.191 of the Revised Code
http://codes.ohio.gov/orc/4503.21

i only got one county sticker and one renewal sticker so im well within the limits, possibly breaking the law now with my hellas as far as visabilty but i could care less if i got a ticket for that

I think it'd still "obscure" the vision of an oncoming Police Officer. They'd get ya for it, heck, they pull ya over for having a plate light out these days.

my plates been like that since the day i got my plates two and a half years ago and ive been all over ohio and no trouble. And like i said above, i had a LEO run my plates once and he used the front plate and never made comment about it. If any one gives me grief about it ill just say it didnt have a plate holder and i didnt want to scratch the front of my bumper up.

plus its basically in the same place as the stock location just set in an inch

I'm just sayin'. Ultimately, it's not my rig. I took a look at the pictures, and I just know that the police around here wouldn't hesitate to pull my butt over. Especially with such an "eye magnet" of a yellow hood.
