A-piller Spot lights....cop style.

Hey ya'll.

So I was rolling in the work truck, and '05 D-max, and saw a City of Portland Water Works '04-05 Ranger 4x4 x-cab. And it had an a-pillar mounted spot light. You know, like a police car. I WANT ONE!!! I need one when wheelin.

Anybody run one??? Anybody outfit pursuit cars that know what's involved with doing this mod?? Doc.....do do you have a spot light??

I know the most common brand is Unity.

Thanks!!

Shane

They run for about $30 average on Ebay...here's a BLACK CHROME one for $45:

I thought about this same thing yesterday, as there are many times I wish I had a directional spot light, plus it looks cool in my opinion. All that's involved with mounting them is drilling a hole in the a-pillar, mounting the bracket with 2 screws, and securing the wires. Since the a-pillar trim snaps off, and the fuse-box is directly below it, this would be a SIMPLE modification! I may have to do this one, if my wife lets me, of course!

Someone should do a quick PChop to see if it would look okay. I would if I had PS on my work computer!

For 240,000 candlepower, it's probably well worth the $50 or so it'd cost from Ebay!!

How did I miss this thread. But anyways spotlights arent that hard to put in altho its a 2 man job unless you dont want the weather striping around the windshield. I Have done a bunch of these at work on different vehicles and there's not much involve. You just have to have a power lead ran to it. Involes drilling 3 holes in the a-pillar 2 are for screws and ones for the actual spot light to go threw. And by judging on the doors on a ranger your going to have to trim a U in the door.

Just a reminder you have to get one made for a ranger a crown vic..etc... will not fit. To bad you live to far away or i would give you a hand if you are seriously going to do it.
