I can tell you what I did when I broke my throttle cable in one of my trucks. I took a long peice of heavy string ran it trough my fire wall where there is an access port and had a hand throttle. you could do that and just tie it off to your cigarette lighter or somthing

I much prefer to drive any vehicle with my boots as they have a harder sole and absorb much of the flex a light sneaker will give you, which ends up tiring your feet out and making them sore. It comes with cables and a ****, but istead of attaching it to your choke, attach it to the throttle plate where the cruise attachment would go.
Voila! Hand throttle.
Just remember to push it in when you're done!
