Lightning exhaust on both sides idea

Ok, i'm pretty new here and i looked and i couldn't find anything about it so i figured it was ok to start a new thread.

OK, i was under my truck looking at how this could be done. I know the gas tank is right there on the driver side and you shouldn' t really run a pipe under it. But would it be ok to do that if you wrapped that part of the pipe in a heat wrap? that part of the pipe should have a little less heat than a header would wouldn't it? I just think it would be cool to have steam coming out both sides on a cold day. So what do you think?

I know the pipe would be kinda low going under everything, but how much heat will that stuff hold in?

yea, relocate the tank, or get a fuel cell in the bed. but there might be some other things down there as well. be careful though.

well.....probably, I don't do much serious off-roading. mostly around town, and occasionally muddy trails, and fields, but no major stumps, or hills or anything like that

i wouldn't do it.

i was going to do it, back a few years ago, when i got exhaust.. and realized it just isn't a real possibility w/ the location of our gas tank... cross member and driveshaft are in the way. it would be stupid to run an exhaust pipe under the driveshaft.

I would just run your exhaust out the back, but your idea is something different that no one else has.

I want it to be on both sides, but not if it's unsafe. what risks do i run if i run it under the drive shaft? with some clearance though.

Edit: I want somthing no one has done.

On the passenger side you could have your real exhaust come out and on the other side weld a pipe on to your frame or bolt it on some way so that it comes out like the other but is actually not used.

I want it to be functional. Because no one has done it yet. I may just have to go out the passanger side with it

I wanted to do the same thing, but couldn't with the gas tank as well. The lightning style exhaust has been done by people here, but its not too often you come across it. Its still pretty original if you go that way.

would being functional really be better for performace? if not have a fake pipe on the side, who'll know that isn't here.

If you want something different, have the exhaust exit like mine. I haven't seen many Rangers with an exit like this.

And yes, it is cool seeing steam come out of both sides on a cold day. Hehe.

Wouldn't the Roush Thunderbolt(from e-bay) exhaust system work for him?
it exits out the back or can customize the tail bends for the sides.
or is that not what he's lookin to do?

He wants to exit on both sides, lighting location on both sides. But its not safely possible.

You could run the exhaust INTO the front of the bed, like they do for stacks, then run it down and out under the bed...
