LED Lock Idea

LED Lock Idea
Expanding on rwenzing's mod (or basically becuase I couldn't find the specs/diagram anywhere online to duplicate it) I think I came up with something.
I am in the process of installing an autoloc/stellar remote start with alarm. It comes with an LED indocator to let you know the various states (armed/disarmed/silent) and I was thinking I could install these (I'll tie in another LED for the passenger door) in place of the door plungers. Any input?

John -
Sorry, I just didn't see where you had done it referanced anywhere but that thread. I did scower your site but I couldn't find any referance to the LED mod (or I just would have gone with your mod instead of coming up with this substitution)
Do you have like a wiring diagram for what you guys did? I'm a mechanical designer and I'm learning electronics engineering (I learned how to saulder a few months ago) so I know I could read it, but designing something like that is still a few years off. I would love to be able to incorporate your design into something new. Thanks.

That's because I've never done it to MY truck, lol! And it's okay, I don't care.
I did it for Carl (buckgnarly) on his Ranger. I imagine he'll have me doing something on his Rubicon when he gets it.
I can draw something up, or Bob can. Mine uses a latching 12 volt relay that may still be available from http://www.allelectronics.com . I also got the two color LED's and bezels for them there. Mine works only off the drivers side door output, and uses the "Theft" LED flash to pulse the LED. The latching relay is used to reverse the polarity to a Bi-color LED depending on whether the truck was last locked or unlocked.
Let me see if I can find the posts I made. They may have been automatically deleted or something -- I don't know how it works around here. Or maybe I did it way back in my GenEdge days -- I honestly can't remember!
Edit: Well, I can't find any of my old posts and pictures on it. Not sure I ever did anything but describe it. I MEANT to write it up as a how-to, but with me lots of intentions never see the light of day...

Thanks. I really appreciate it. I love doing different, custom, one of a kind stuff to my vehicles ( I ran the switches for my aftermarket power windows through the folding armrest and mounted them on the front (when down) or top (when up) so the switches were always at my fingertips) so I'm going to try to come up with something different based on your design.
Thanks again.
Edit: Thats OK. Hopefully, based on your description I can get one the electronics engineers to come up with something. Thanks again.

The OP has a 98 truck and I think it may be wired different. Not sure of the exact year of the change but earlier trucks switch the hot side of the theft LED instead of the ground side. The current limiting resistor for the LED is inside the RAP module, so it could complicate adding more LEDs to the circuit.
