More airflow for the Poor Guy?
Okay, heres the idea. What if you were to run some tubing from a high airflow area (ex. under the bumper or in grill), perhaps with a funnel type end up to the airbox intake AREA. Would that not produce more colder air and higher airflow for the intake tube? The way it is now, at least my 03 edge, the intake tube is behind the passenger headlight. In theory this would produce more air blowing around in that area, and all you would have to do is spend a couple bucks on 2" or 3" tubing, perhaps a cone on the end, and some way of straping the tube up to behind the headlight. If you got really fancy you could customize a way to fit the cone in the lower grill so air is forced up through the tube to behind the headlight. There would be no cutting, drilling, screwing, etc. and you could very easily remove it. Notice: This is in theory and I didnt say strap it directly to the intake, although it could produce interesting results on the highway. I plan to test the theory soon, and I'll record the results for everyone. What does everyone think? Yes No

When you route air through serious angles, and redirect the flow....you cause a restriction, not a "RAM" effect.

I bought a kit made for a rice burner. that turns your intake into a ram air...well i had it routed to where it was mounted on the lower grill in the vallance....Did not see any change in power or anything. but when it rained i would suck water up in to the air box....plus also when we get good rains here in the fall we seem to get flooded streets and that was one other reason i took it off cause thats i would need to do is drive into a puddel and suck up a ton of water. im just saying to waste the time and money...

Hmm. I didnt think about the rain and moisture. Keep in mind im not trying a ram air directly to the intake though. Im thinking more of a 90 degree angle to the intake tube. Just to provide more air in the area.

The heat from the engine is to be kept in mind, but could be carefully routed
It would have to be disabled during wet and rainy patches also.
Also this wouldnt be ideal for off roading, just on road. Keep em comin.

Notice how it is not sealed. That's the key to water invasion. Leave a hole in the bottom. The truck will push air into the box, not into your motor. There will be no RAM, just the cooler air. There will be no negative effect like a snorkel if you do it like this. Also no water worries.
My Mach 1 is the same way. There's two entries into the airbox. One from the shaker hood scoop and one from the fender, so it's not sealed. It can be driven into a rainstorm with no worries.

your idea would probably do about the same as the tornado fuel saver. It was supposed to increase air flow but i was reading that this actually does not increase horsepower or gas mileage. air flow sensor controls the air flow so this wont help..
unlike a good air filter that makes it easier for your engine to draw in air.
