Neons

Yellow neons under my truck? it has yellow decals, and also kicker symbols on the mud flaps that are yellow. and how about red neons on the inside, my amps are both blue, so i was thinking red under driver and passenger, and red & blue gauges to match the stereo. anyone have pics of their dash done red and blue?

Dude: Neons suck - they brake so easily. Buy "beefy" LED strips from OZNIUM - They are 10X stronger, and very very bright.

If you are doing the interior, you don't need the "beefy" strips, just buy the regular ones. Thier parts are EXCELLENT quality and durability. I will be doing red under my car, and blue under my truck this spring as soon as the weather permits.

I agree with Jp7 I would do LEDs just for durability reasons. Don't let some guys tell you not to run them, if you think they would look good do it.

Imagine a cluster with that mod..

I'm working on an F150 Lightning cluster tomorrow, my best friend wants it to be RED led. I'll get pics - hope it comes apart easy. I'm using oznium parts for the mod.

Any neons/LEDs on the exterior are typically legal if they do not flash while you're moving or do not shine a red light to the front of the vehicle. I know some states absolutely hate on LED washer nozzles (ghey anyways).

I used to have blue LED underglow on my old Ford Contour and I never got hassled with it, however they didn't like my blue turn signals, cuz in Ontario, if you have a flashing blue light, you're "imitating a snow removal vehicle." $110 ticket.

As for the interior, you're better off with LEDs because it's a brighter light, lasts longer,is more durable and is easier to mount because they arent as big and bulky as neon tubes. I know of no laws governing the use of lights inside a vehicle, other than not being allowed to have a tv screen visible to the driver unless it is a GPS or built in Nav system.

Well that's obvious.

The Ontario Highway Traffic Act states that on the front of a passenger vehicle, it may only emit a flashing white or amber light for signaling, while the rear may be red, white or amber.

You cannot have any other colour flashing light anywhere on your vehicle (Blue: Police/Snow Plow, Red: Fire,Police,Ambulance, Green: Volunteer Firefighter, Purple: Funeral Procession.) Those colours are reserved for special use/emergency vehicles.

You're not allowed to have any red light visible on the front of a passenger vehicle because it does not distinguish between the front or rear of the vehicle and, if flashing, is imitating an emergency vehicle.

And that's how Ontario rolls.
