Just out of pure curiousity . . . any reason you want to turbo the 3.0 and not do a 2.3T, 4.0 or V8 swap?

Again, just asking.

Hell I'd like to see it and even help in the fabrication.

I would think it would be much easier to remote mount the turbo rather than try to fabricate an exhaust manifold for it. Just a thought.

Try a company called STS turbo systems. They make remote mounted turbos the fit under the bed of trucks and feed back to the motor. Trucks used one on Gen 1 Lightning and one on a Toyota Tacoma.

^This

This is the idea I have for my yellow truck once it is powered by the 3.0. You can run it on e85, which is around 100 octane and cheaper than 93 octane. It burns much faster but when you're looking at Turboing something, I'd say gas mileage isn't you're number 1 priority. Could be a number 2, but that's just something you have to deal with. A little less mileage for a low cost safe race fuel powered turbo 6cyl ranger??? Chalk me up for one

There are two things to remember with this motor i to want forced induction but this motor has a terrible problem with pinging which is never a good idea when under boost also the internals are stronger than most but still not that strong with a mostly stock motor under light boost you will see decent improvements but like it was said earlier with enough money its possible but unless you like thrown rods and blown motors i would suggest forged parts if your going to go crazy with the boost. Tom Morana can fix you up real nicely!!

I'm doing a remote mount turbo on my 3.0, but I'm also going to run a water/methanol setup with it. You just got to make sure to keep the boost low and get a good wideband kit to watch your air/fuel ratio. I think it can be done pretty safely, it's just going to cost more.

you cant. 3.0s are destined to be slow. pump em up and the heads can fail. k&n filter, fresh plugs and oil, good gearing in the rear end, possibly a tuner.
