You will have to gut the engine bay, move the steering over, and if you have a 4" BODY lift that might just make it but I doubt it.
Exhaust would have to be outside the frame
Not a practical swap especially for the limited power, 225HP
302(5.0l) is 19" wide and 21" tall and it barely fits in Explorer or Ranger, but does fit with remote oil filter and custom exhaust headers
4.6l SOHC is 29" WIDE!!, and 26" TALL!!
4.6l DOHC is 30" wide and 30" tall
Better to sell the 4.6l and then build a "go fast 5.0l" money better spent, 5.0l explorer engine was 215HP stock, you can bump that up pretty good and not break the bank, everyone sells 5.0l performance parts, so lots of competition and plenty of sales, lol.

I know I'm going to get booed and slammed for this one. How about a cross over. Put a Chevy engine in it. The Inline 6 from a trailblazer. It comes with a blower on it. It makes 275HP or 265HP. The torque is closer to 300. That was my last SUV. Solid engine. I know some say Ford is Ford and Chevy is Chevy. I think if it could fit it would be good. It is a 4.2L engine..... Any thoughts before the booing starts. LOL

Inline 6 would be a tight squeeze front to back, only a few inches longer than V8, but those few inches are hard to get , lol.
Can't beat the torque of an inline engine and longer stoke
Chevy engine in a Ford vehicle can be the best of both, but requires some patience in getting everything to play well together, and over time doing repairs requires a good memory of what part is Chevy and what part is Ford, so document EVERYTHING for future reference

Just get the dimensions of the engines you want and compare them to the 5.0l dimensions
302(5.0l) is 19" wide and 21" tall
If its wider than that then you will have ALOT of work to get it to fit
Body lift is not all that hard, its the width that means moving steering and losing heater/AC box
