Josh's SAS thread

I know i said i wasn't going to do it, but i really like this place and said to hell with it.

Here is the truck whose nickname is D-Ranged. I have owned it since I returned from my 2nd tour in Iraq. I bought it from the original owner... If only he could see it now....

Basically it started as a bone stock 1994 Ranger.

Well, then i got the 4by itch, and decided to do a 6" Skyjacker Class II lift and run 33's

Then that wasn't good enough (why, i dont know, but i wanted it different)

So i decided to go full width, with a Dana 44 I beam suspension from a 93 big bronco and a 9" from a 79 F100 2wd.

I never finished the swap. It was in, but it was not safe to drive, just not good at all. since it wasn't safe, time for ANOTHER rebuild. This time a HP Dana 44 from a 78 Bronco, King Prerunner 2.5 14" coil overs, and a set of 64" leafs out back.

Then I remembered i wasn't a big fan of the 93-97 style front end, soooo i changed it.

Then i added flares, new grille, bumper, winch, and had it painted.

Well, the truck gets wheeled. And wheeled hard. about 3 months ago i overheated the power steering, the engine, and the clutch, all while being stuck. it took two Jeeps, a winch, a big *** tow strap, and some body damage to get me out

Then I blew it up. Cracked both heads. Since it was down, i rebuilt the front suspension, reworked the rear a little, and rebuilt the top end of the motor. Took about a month for everything with school and work, but i got it done just in time to drive the 800 miles to Moab, UT.

Then I was running around 70 on the freeway and the tire blew out. no warning, just all the sudden i had no control and tire chunks were flying everywhere. Almost came face to *** with a Semi, but managed to get it off the road.

Called AAA, and they came to my rescue...

And my ol lady made me pose for Facebook

Since the tires were gone, time for some new ones...

Once i got the tires on, i noticed that the track bar was moving when i would turn, so i made some gussets out of 3/8" plate and braced the bracket. Much more stable, and no more moving track bar.

This brings me up to date. There is a lot of work and breakage and blah in between all this, but i just wanted to hit the high notes. Right now i am waiting on my DD Machine doubler kit, auxillary gas tank, and new coils to arrive.

Well, I wasn't sure until I saw your truck, but now I'm sold. I'm going full width, I'm getting 3/4 axles out of a 73-79 Ford (tons of them around here). I debated for a long time whether I should cut them for a custom width. I'm not going to. (getting 3/4 ton axles because I'm doing a motor swap, but that's a later discussion)

Love your truck, makes me very anxious to get started

Thanks man!

Yea, I am moving to Kentucky in September, so the setup is staying like this until then.

Once we get back home, its getting torn down again. I am going to a Kingpin 60 up front, 14 bolt out back, LQ4/700R4/NP241/205 for drivetrain.

Not really anymore with it being summer. It is my DD other than my Harley. If I don't ride the bike to work, I drive the truck. If i go anywhere on the weekends, its usually in the truck. My ol lady drives it every now and then too.

As far as Talemadge.... I have no flipping clue... lol

bought, but had it made. The guy makes bumpers for explorers and rangers, but nothing for what i got, so i just gave him the measurements, he made the bumper. I had to get it to mate to the frame though.

Thanks for the compliment man!
