Icon6 Project Cheap HEEP

Finally bought me another 4x4. Its a 1989 Jeep Cherokee Pioneer. Has the 4.0/twin stick. Plans are to lift it and turn it into a trail rig. Only has a 196k miles on it which is low for the year so it runs great.

This will be a long term project, but I am hoping to have most of what I want done in a year.

I will be starting off with a rusty's offroad 3" lift I scored off CL for 50 bucks. Only thing its missing is new shocks. Gonna try and find a decent set of used wheels/tires for it. The ones on it now are warn/cupped/dry rotting.

List of future mods long term:
3" lift for now and slowly upgrade to more lift.
wheels/tires
regear
front and rear bumpers(rear with tire carrier)
Roof basket with lights
winch
and when the time comes refresh the engine/trans

Now the pictures

Here's where it starts. I will hopefully have the lift and new tires on in the next couple of weeks!

Going to be a good project. We started my bro-in-law's XJ with a 3" kit and it's evolved into a 6.5" BDS long arm kit and a cage in no time. lol

They will be on there until I need a tire that is to wide for the wheel or I get a damn good deal on wheels/tires. They will go to the garage once they come off.

Looks good man...my boss has a 1978 (I think) Golden Eagle Jeep he is restoring. Should be interesting to watch the progress of both.

Those wheels remind me of the general lee's rims for some reason.

Paint it orange and put a confederate flag on the roof. Then wheel the **** outta it!

Well cheap heep is a no go. Found some issues I didn't want to mess with. So I sold it. I will be on the hunt for a different one. So this can be deleted.

Motor started to crap out on it and clutch wasn't wanting to engage. So I decide just to sell it and find another in a month or so.

the 4.0 that was in it is a perfect motor, but I am going to aim for a newer model. They improved on some things in the 90's.

It would be a dana 30 no matter what but the 44 is correct. dana 35 is a ranger front end
