87 Ranger engine rebuild

Well i bought this truck for $550 engine ran like crap but it has a great body and good 5-speed. Anyway on to the pic's

Damn, giant pictures, Smaller next time? Its makes me sick scrolling through them. Looks like a big project! Cant wait to see it come together.

What engine?

Dewalt is not the best tool of them all. Not a big fan of those compressors.

Looks like it will be a fun project, though.

The engine is just the 2.3 it had shattered rings on the #2 piston (it was ran with no air cleaner had sand all over the rings....)We have had that compressor for about 3 years and have had no problems.

Well some good news the block is done..... at the machine shop that is lol. I am going to pick it up tomorrow. Time to start putting everything back together.

Good start on a project I have a 84 I am getting ready to drop a 351 in. But a really good start on your project.

Thanks man you are going to beef up the frame right? That 5.8 is going to twist the hell out of it if you dont!

the frame will be fine with a 351, unless he manages a PERFECT launch with no wheel spin......even then itll be fine

Well the bottom end is done :) once the head is rebuilt the engine will be ready to go back in. Right now im waiting on ohc bearings :(.

Well the engine is back in the truck and it ran for the first time tonight! Damn im so glad to hear that little 2.3 fire up :).
