1998 Ford Ranger XLT DD with style
Decided to start a project thread for the 98. I'm in the process of collecting parts for a 01-03 edge front end. Only thing I need now is a 01+ bumper with fogs and I will be good to go on the front end.
Goal:
Lower it a little a on some 17's, stereo, tint and just drive it. Eventually repaint it, but probably not until late this year or spring of the next year.
Scored 2 mach 1 wheels with tires for 150 bucks off CL. Found two matching one's on ebay for cheap and got them. I will put a new set of tires on it when they come in.
powerdome hood I scored for 260 with tax from a junkyard. Only a couple chips in the paint.
I also scored the 01-03 header panel and edge grille for just shy of 100 shipped to the house new!
Took the topper off.

Billy has a good point here lol.
This is all you Mike, but i think a subtle drop would look great, due to the fact that it is dang near level as it sits now. something like a 2/2, like lowering springs up front, and shackles in the rear would look great IMO. but definately throw the 'Dome on it, and if you do go 01/03 try to get an 06 stx grille. theyre all the rage apparently lol.

We'll see how it goes.
I'm going to hang onto everything, but I am converting lol.
I'm thinking just a 2/3 maybe making it a 3/3. I already stx'd the 04 lol. I just want to go with the 01-03 edge front end I think its clean lol.

you really can't go 3" drop in the front, the front end will be un-alignable even with the aftermarket camber bolts, you will wear out tires fast

Okay so I got all the 98 crap off and by god ford WTF were you thinking when you designed the headlight setup. Total PITA to remove. 04+ is stupid simple in comparison. Anyway I got the header panel in and I am only a few small pieces away from getting it all on. Just need the metal clips to hold the part under the head lights in and two screws plus the ford emblem and then finish installing and I am done. I am hoping ford will have everything I need to finish it up tomorrow.

I ordered the DJM 2" springs and 5" flip kit from summit for 160 bucks. I have some drop shackles I am going to use to raise the rear up. Didn't see the point in spending 50 bucks on theirs when I had some. I will be using my stock shocks for a short time then upgraded to some drop shocks. I also plan on running a 255/50 series tire. Not wanting to go super low at this point on the truck. This is a budget build and spending 700-800 on suspension just didn't make sense right now. Should be here on monday and sometime next week it'll get installed along with new rear wheel cylinders and shoes. Should get the mach 1's on next week too.
This truck has the stance I am looking for right now.

Reason I am going back is I am not exactly pleased with the way it's all lining up. So in order to keep it clean looking I am going back. However I did get the 2/3 on. I need to get new leaf packs because they are warn out and one is missing a leaf! Should be getting new shocks on it next week too. So expect pictures next weekend of it done.
