Cummins swap started
So I started getting my parts together today. I picked up a ford 9 inch rear end and bought a totalled dodge ram 2500 4x4 with a 5.9 cummins. It's a 12v with right at 150,000 miles. Runs sitting in the truck. The truck is done though...nothing left in it can be salvaged so no extra money for me.
But on the other hand, I have a trans case, tranny, and running motor. The nice thing about the 12v is that it's all mechanical. So other than the starter solenoid, i dont think anything really requires power. plus where i live we have no emissions.
So now the fun is gonna start with a cutting torch and sheet metal cutters to gain acces to the motor. the front of the truck is completely totaled so some hacking is more than required. lol. I plan on doing the swap, upgrading the injectors, putting on a bigger turbo, and a custom 6" black stack out the bed. I'm more than excited. I've got a friend who owns a diesel performance shop and he's more than excited to start. We've already got a custom intaked manifold to fit under the hood of my truck. All equal length exhaust and everything.
WISH ME LUCK!!!!!

I'll have some pics tomorrow. but I have a lot of research to still do.I gotta find some type of spring that will hold the weight in the front end and still keep the SAS. I think I'll keep the transmission and motor together and drop them staright in, then make the transfer case and everything else work. Thats all in due time. One step at a time. The engine proves to be a pain in my butt, but the end product keeps me looking up. All the performance parts i'm getting are off my buddy's old 12v that now has 1300hp and is a 24v. plenty of possibilities at this point.
