Custom HID Projector Lens in an 01'+ Housing

These can be done in probably ~ 10 hours straight labor with 2 people.. helps tons with one person doing each headlight - the only reason it took em so long is because naturally, its just me.. although - a warning for anyone reading this - it isnt easy by any means, the pictures just make it look easy Several parts can permanently mess up some headlights, could potentially cost you lots of money on a single wrong spray in the wrong part!
But - hell yeah, I cant wait to drive these things at night, see how they really work :-D
BTW - Shane - I have some 3000k bulbs and kit coming in for my fog lights, relay as well :-D

Alright - its WAY to bright outside to do this right now.. cant take a picture of the inside of it cause of all the reflection I get - not enough time to go somewhere a littel darker.. like up in the woods or somewhere.
Tonight, Ill get some work lights and set it up, or a flashlight or something to let you see hwo it looks.
The Satin color I used works perfect - I was trying to find a good textured paint to match the rest of the black color on my truck, and Krylon Fusion Satin Black seems to have done the trick!

THe suck part - I wont be using -all- of my 9007-4 kit, I pulled the full relay out - I need to test if the control module in this kit houses a relay or not.. if it doesnt - I have 2 full relay harnesses I can use on my desk, will have to rewire it if needed - I hate running HID's straight off the cable if its not needed
Heading off to work people, catch you all at night - more pictures to come! And a vid too, I think this mod warrants a video :-D

I just wish there was a way to set it back further in the housing, it looks too close to the lens. Also, it kinda looks odd to me to have the turn signal bigger than the headlight. I love the light output though. Maybe I could find a larger diameter projector and do this.
Sa part with projectors - you wont find anythign bigger then this - honestly, a 2" lens is pretty big, you wont find anythign much bigger then 2 1/2" on the lens I believe - they dont need to be big to be effective, some of the newer fancy cars have them as small as 1 1/2" roughly.. its amazing what the small ones can do!
And, onto a few pictures (uploading them) Will post here in a few minutes.

The entire housing in the daylight:
Low/High and Cutoff Shots:
Parked on a slight inclined hill - hence the diagonal cutoff line.
Parked on a slight inclined hill - hence the diagonal cutoff line.
Keep in mind - mostly with the first photo - its -hard- to get a camera to see, at night, what the human eye can see - the light output of the high beam is much more then what seems to be pictured there, the white truck at the neighbors house was fully visible with the beams on high, and hardly visible with them off.
End Result:
I am way freakin satisfied with these, the cutoff is amazing - I was driving behind someone, and being passed on the road - and I was way super confident about not blinding anyone - being a lifted truck.. I have set them to land at the ground probably 200 ft in front of me, so the high beams arent as effective in a truck as they woudl be in a smalle rcar - but the high beams nonetheless completely blow halogen bulbs out of the water. I want back into my 4300k, as I dont like this 6000k light - seems to be a bit to blue for me.. I jsut have to track down what bulb size this runs and order up a 4300k set.

NICE!! If it were me, I'd set the projo deeper in the headlamp housing. Cut that hole that the stock 9007 goes into, and countersink that projo some. Possible cutting of the rad core support may be needed and I wouldn't hesitate on whipping out the dremel. I want a stock look to it, so I'd be leaving that area chrome around the projo, and possibly machine some alum trim rings then polish 'em out to a chrome like shine. From a distance, it'll look like a headlight mod, but get closer, you'll see the projo. Just my thoughts.

Hah. all projectors have that step :-)
You line it up so the left bulb is shooing lower then the right - that way you dont have any of the beams focusing on the passing cars - allows a higher beam for viewing the side of the road. My beams are adjusted to what they shoudl be in any stock vehicle with projectors - fully stepped down appropriatly

Still looking around for bulbs - I emailed the person I ordered it from to ask what type they run - I dont think its quite an H1 or H3 bulb.. they have the same look - but I think if I ordered an H1 I coudl probably make it work with a dremel and some light sanding... would love to test these with some 5ow bulbs
