3.0 Supercharger is a go!
Finally got my Supercharger and all the goodies to make this setup work. Ill take pics and do a wright up the best I can.
After I do some more research I plan on getting into in the next week or so and I'm hoping to have my truck apart for no more than a week but that depends on the machine shops timing. Along with my worthless know how a guy I know is doing alot of this work with me who has done things like this before so I'm placing my truck in his hands basically.
First thing first though I'm going to clean up everything with a bit of sandblasting and repainting.
Let the fun begin!
Total price so far:
Supercharger, intercooler, intake and plumbing: 125$

All that lift and big tires will soak up a lot of usable energy. Your going to do better then you are now ( for sure! ), but I wouldn't expect earthshaking numbers. You might break the 200hp at the wheels mark or somewhere in that ballpark.

Regardless, a stock 3.0 with a whipple is nearly exactly a stock 4.0 SOHC. The OHV 4.0 is a bit different though and I'm not sure where it falls, but I think somewhere between a stock 3.0 and a stock 4.0 SOHC.

Jay Allen had problems with detonation even after he ran a water-injection setup.
Our friend here is ( hopefully ) going to adapt the thunderbird exchanger ( innercooler ) to keep things ' cool '.
I think its going to work fine, but its.. Its almost too much blower for a 3.0 IMO. an MP/M62 would be more accomidating. It WILL work though ( have seen it done before by an RPS member ).

I'll put it out there one more time, I do have ALOT of learning to do. Thankfully the guy whos helping does know alot and I trust him to do it right since he also builds funny cars and other go fast cars.
To help me in my learning proccess do I have basically everything needed except the custom parts to make this work and keep it cool?

I put the ' pig ' on a diet and made it so the rear tires would grab and use that energy. Your setup doesn't have much of a chance for such ( your on offroad tires and lifted ).
Its going to boil down to who grabs best and gets the most effecient use of the energy they have.
500HP in a 5000lb truck ( like an F150 with an ATI Procharger ) didn't beat my less then 400 in 3250lbs on an official track in the 8th mile. Tires were the BIGGEST factor ( his gnarly offroad tires didn't fair as well as my street radials ).
Those OHV motors have TORQUE. Everyone can laugh at their 160hp, but look at their torque levels. THAT is what you need to try and make up for.
I don't know what type of truck your friend has, but *if* its a 2wd, and on street tires.. and they know how to drive.. You might not fair as well as we ALL would like you to.

I'd like to see this for the ' smoke show ' when you both mash the gas and neither truck hooks
Something that will help ( greatly ) , find a used set of James Duff bars and ( you might have to grind on them a bit ) and hook them up to prevent wheel hop. New they were less then 100$.
It will eliminate spring wrap and wheel hop for ya.

Already have JD bars and an Eaton posi unit. It would be nice to actually be able to smoke my tires even though I wont because they cost to much, right now I cant even get a chirp outa them.

In that sense it is a good thing but I dont race my truck and it's not meant for high speeds at all. I'm just looking for as much power or torque out of this as possible. All the extra power also makes me conserned about my tranny but my guy on this tells me not to worry but I cant help it. Also what other support mods do you suggest besides the Bama and gears?
