LOL @ D....

anyway i tried to mount my 1356 tcase so i could measure for driveshafts, no way is that fitting. Guess I will have to resort to a Stak or Atlas, I really didnt want to spend that much more but I am at the point where i just want to finish most everything the right way and just enjoy wheeling it.

So now I need to figure out what case is best, the right output yokes, the right gear range etc. I have no idea about any of that stuff.

I think if i remounted the engine to the passenger side another inch or two it might fit, but then my coilover mounts wont clear the valve covers.

I did pull out the seats and all of the interior that is coming out. One seat bolt was rusted in, I just plasma cut the seat out. Both seats are shot and the center console is junk to so no loss there really.

What doesn't fit about it? Too wide? Too long? Guess I'm having trouble visualizing it.

way too wide. i would have to cut the frame in half then the driveshaft would rub on the frame further up where the frame is boxed. I have cut a bunch of frame in the past but I really do not want to cut this open then try to brace it all up.

what about clocking the trans case down or something?
I like how the d&d doubler lets you clock the rbv cases, maybe you could find something for the 1356

What about a Klune-v box, they let you clock the trans case I believe, I dont know how much they are though, might be better off with an atlas

or what about dropping the trans case slightly - don't know how much space you need, but the wrangler guys used to drop their trans cases like an inch to aleviate driveshaft vibes

with 42,s and a good skid plate, having the t/c a little lower shouldn't hurt anything at all

it would need clocked about 20 degrees. i know there are some 10 degree rings out there. tough call really.

If I drop the trans i drove the engine which i will loose 2-3 inches of uptravel which i dont want to loose. lol

All I'm hearing is a great excuse for a gear driven manual case with super low gearing.

Any chance you can use a d300? They are tiny and pretty stout... and most importantly, cheap!

Dana 300 is a sweet factory case. You can easily modify it for front digs.

I think you can find them in the early to mid 80's Heeps.

zach i dont know what kind of gear ratio youre looking for but an np208 has a 2.6:1 stock gearing.its pretty lightweight. if you find one out of a bronco it will be fixed yoke and manual shift

yeah but how big is the 208? the 1356 is several inches too big.

Looks like the D300 would work but I would need a flip kit. then mess with the shift linkage etc... It could also leak from my understanding. Unless there are a few D300s that have drivers side output.

208 has a 23 spline input shaft??? idk if that will cut it. a Stak is 31 spline input and 32 spline outputs. plus i can get 1410 yokes on both ends.

4R70W to NP205 - Pirate4x4.Com Bulletin Board
There is size comparisons here of a 1356 and 205 just for referance but front shaft to tranny pan clerance may become an issue.

I think a 205 would work, i know it will fit between the frame rail but the shifter linkage and driveshaft will be an issue with the transmission.

Im running a twin sticked 205 and i absolutley love it being able to run whatever gear you want is awesome the drive shaft is tight but i think a high clerance CV will be fine. I have a 4R70W tranny but i think that your 4R100 is bigger
205 prollay weighs 150 lbs if i had to geuss there heavy but i wouldnt imagine a stak or atlas to be to much lighter, i would rather have a little heavier drivetrain and have it bullet proof u can shed the weight somewhere else if ur that worried bout it.

are all 205s twin sticked? or can be? I see the shifters which would be nice. cmopared to a stock setup.

can you get some pictures for me? i doubt the 4r100 is that much larger, the bellhousing is probably the same thing!
