this is what i had to do to wire a 4.6dohc into my grand marquis:

Imagine taking the ranger harness, take all the loom off and cut out every wire that is engine, abs, trans, fuel, emisions stuff you dont need. That leaves like heater, lights, etc.
Now do the opposite to the navigator harness. Pull out all the lights, emissions, accessory junk.
Now you have to leave connectors. All Ford products run stuff into cab light ignition etc. the plugs and wires are different. You have to track each one down in the ranger and match it up to the ones in the navigator you now need to use. Then splice them together. Then you have like pcm stuff, pats stuff, fuse boxes, relays, blah blah just a bunch of stuff that needs spliced, removed...
Those wiring diagram books are a must.

It has a stock converter in it. I wanted to wait on the transmission. See how it holds up first. It seems ok at this moment but it is hard to tell. Right now it has not been rebuilt or even touched.
