Drew's 94 ranger (work in progress...)

I haven't been on here for a while, so I think I will start my build. Allow me to introduce my ranger. She is a 1994 ford ranger XLT model tow package. It is equipped with the big brother 4.0l along with a 5 speed manual transmission and 4WD with 135k miles. I wanted a Powerstroke for a first vehicle, but I just couldn't afford one yet. Instead I bought the ranger from a family friend who used it to do farm work a lot. I wasn't so stoked about it, but Once I started driving it around, I feel in love with it. I knew this is the farm truck for me. When I first got it, there was a lot of work to be done on it. I bought it for $2k and I thought it was a fair offer. So I think I should begin the build. Enjoy!

The things that came with it:
1. A rebuilt front end
2. manual Locking hubs
3. A hitch receiver
4. New tires
5. an after market stereo
6. 5 speed manual transmission
7. 4.0l engine
8. 4WD
9. Extended cab
10. short bed
11. Toolbox

The things that are fixed:
1. New wheel bearings
2. New tail light
3. New manual locking hubs from warn
4. New Clutch
5. New slave cylinder
6. New flywheel
7. New brakes
8. New Battery
9. New flasher relay
10. New tires
11. New rear view mirror

The things that need to be fixed:
1. New grille
2. New ball joints
3. New u-joints
4. Alignment
5. New paint job
6. New windshield
7. New shocks
8. New coil springs
9. New leaf springs
10. New headers
11. New y-pipe
12. New Catalytic converter

The mods I have right now:
1. Cab lights
2. Mossy oak interior
3. Clevis hitch
4. Warm manual Locking hubs
5. K&N air filter
6. New tires

The mods I want to add to it later on:
1. 15 inch American racing Baja wheels
2. 31 inch goodyear Duratracs
3. 2 inch lift it or leveling kit
4. New skyjacker shocks
5. New leaf springs from skyjacker
6. New coil springs from skyjacker
7. Custom front bumper
8. MBRP exhaust or Flowmaster
9. SAS for front and rear
10. Lights on my toolbox
11. Lights on the bottom side of truck
12. 07+ ranger mirrors
13. 07+ ranger emblems
14. And much more!

When I first got it. It was bone stock and was a little boring. Remember, I use this as a farm truck, so I'm not gonna go crazy on it. I might add a 2 inch lift or leveling kit, but That is about how big I'm gonna go. With no doubt, I will add 31's on it later on when I'm due for new ones. Here it is when I first got it.

Went from this

To this!

Here are the pics of the engine. As you could see, there is a cold air intake. I tried it out and it worked good. Everything costed about 60 bucks including the filter and adapter. I would of kept it on, but since I work on a farm, I go through dirt and mud everyday. I took it off because I was afraid it could ruin a good engine. So back to the stock air intake.
Here it is:

Somewhere in February, I had to replace my clutch and slave cylinder. For about 1 1/2 years of going through hard shifting and a worn out clutch, I thought it was time. I did the work with a family friend because it was cheaper and I could a few things on how a clutch works. Without Ian, I would still be working on it! The whole process took about 3 weeks and cost only 300 bucks on parts.
First thing I did was put it on jack stands and take out the driveshaft.

Than I took out the shifter.

What a mess...

A very dirty transmission...

I have never seen such a clean transmission...

Old clutch to the left and new one to the right!

New clutch is in!

New slave cylinder is in!

I was a little bored today, so I put wood in my toolbox as an organizer. It looks clean and a lot more organized. I also painted my engine cover, air flow tube, and the air box. I don't have pics of it until next week, but I do have a couple of the cover.
The toolbox:

The cover:

You know, that's what I thinking about doing today. I have never done it because I always get it dirty. Do I just use a sprayer and spray away or what? Is there spots to not hit or get wet?

I know people use Purple Power cleaner and let it sit on a warm engine for a bit then spray it off...as long as your just spraying it and not flooding it you dont need to cover anything. Theres quite a few threads on it. I know 06RangerXLT has dont it with before and after pictures.

If you keep it in the box, I don't see how. It's like driving in the rain, don't flood the engine bay, just a spray to get the gunk off. The cleaner does most of the work.

Alright I appreciate it! I have been working a lot lately due to wheat harvest so I won't be around it for a while.
