I recently heard about the Ford sterling as well. A local shop owner was telling be about them and how they're comprobable to the 14bolt, but lighter. He is thinking of replacing his rear D44 with the Sterling.

the 10.25 is becoming more and more popular in the off road world because its finally getting the after market support that it deserves! for years there wasnt many parts and choices for the sterling but now manufactures are making upgradable parts for it and it is becoming a popular choice because of the strength and weight it saves over the 14b

yes, the sterling is a full float axle,

another thing to keep in mind is ground clearance, you are only running 37's which is not very big for 1 tons and is way undersized for the 14b, you will be hurting yourself and losing optimal performance because of the low ground clearance of the axle, take a look at the difference in the way the diffs hang down and youll see what im talking about

im not brand loyal, if one is better than the other, i roll with it, thats how we do it Ford, chevy, dodge dont matter to me, if chevy makes bad *** rear axles, and ford front, then thats how its gonna be :)
