thanks! You'll like that, after some research the moddbox looked like a better option so ive opted to go that route. hopefully the cold weather breaks soon so I can get the truck in the heated barn (diesel tractor is stored in barn for winter so it starts easy for plowing snow) soon as tractor is out of the way im getting started!!!
I need someone to write me a tune. Let my know about anyone who can. Fred at rogue is not replying to my emails so i need to find someone else
I know that feeling. Used Fred years ago, and was the same issue. Then last year, I was looking to purchase a bunch of new stuff and got essentially blown off. I know people say he's busy, but still.....
So anyway, I heard about Don LaSota with LaSota racing & decided to give it a shot.
Best decision ever.
I swear you will get same day answers to any questions and your tune basically within hours!
I've been using him for all my recent tunes, including my base supercharger setup which was good enough to let me drive it to my custom dyno tuning session. They used his mail order tune as a solid starting point since it was written for all my upgraded supercharger related modifications.
Excellent customer service and tons of knowledge. He literally wrote the tuning guide from SCT for Ford vehicles. lol

Soo ranger kit on explorer engine. There are quite a few differences. No hvac stuff had to make a block plate. Wiring harness had to be split and extended in multiple spots so it would lay lower in valley pan. Biggest problem is the throttle body. The explorer throttle body does not have provisions for iac whereas 02-11 ranger does. So i have to use a ranger throttle body. Throttle cables attach differently. No real big problems just expected difficulties. So far i love the moddbox install kit it is of very nice quality and the machine work is top notch! Nice complete kit. Just need to get some parts off a newer ranger and get my tune ready!!!!
Nice to see this on an earlier model 4.0L sohc! We actually have block plates for the HVAC heater hoses and an intake flange for the MAF adapter for the 4.0L SOHC 2002-2005 Explorer models (not yet released). Next time someone orders for your style intake, I'll be sure to throw those goodies in.
Our plan for the Explorer is to either supply a Ranger throttle body or leave it up to the customer to purchase one (new they're ~350$... used on ebay they're ~$25).
well I got it all working together, its running and so far no problems, working on some data logging with don lasota. found out the hard way that you cant mount the iac backwards (engine vacuum holds it open and causes a stupid fast idle like 3000 rpm) but all in all its in one piece and starts, got some little details to work out clean up hoses and wiring a bit mount boost gauge ect... VERY excited to drive it
I should have also mentioned Don LaSota. He's the first person that I would recommend on this continent... he is very knowledgeable and he will take care of you. You should also mention to him that you're using the Moddbox Kit!
Thanks, truck is LL wedgewood blue, and silver is wa9924 90s chevy color. I had to do the ford ovals... be different, its actually a candy type color with metal flake for the base layer then a transparent blue
