New Transmission Swap

Sooooo.....

Me and my dad got the new automatic transmission for my truck from Illinois on Wednesday. And now begins the process of putting the new one in.

We've been working on this for a while, and what a project it's been. We obviously had to take the Driveshafts, transfer case, exhaust, and cross member off. But we also found out some new things along the way.

Like, we found out the bell housing was cracked. This probably happened before I even got my truck.

That's why we still have the core. They wouldn't be able to accept it.

As for the new one, it's sitting aside right now, ready to be put in. Everything on it is re manufactured so it's brand new.

It even has a FORD BLUE torque converter

I'll probably put up a follow up video when she's done.

That could be true, since it's the same engine they put in the V6 Mustangs. Lol.

But from what my dad says the people who had my truck, before the dealership got it, got a junkyard transmission and slammed it in too fast and cracked the bell housing in the process. And left it like that. Which is why some of the nuts and bolts were already loose and stripped.

It's a shame because it's a real good truck. Engine runs nice, 4X4 works real good, etc.

But since we got the new one, we're gonna take our sweet time with it and do it RIGHT, and fix some other things as well.

Update Time!!!

Since I posted this thread, A LOT has been done. Firstly, the transmission is in. It has Trans-Go, which is supposed to correct the problems with the factory transmission. I also got DNA headers to replace the original manifold.

All that's left is the Y-Pipe has to be bolted to the headers, the transfer case has to go back in, the driveshafts need to be reconnected, and the wiring needs to be redone.
