Sorry, I ment to put that in there too.

Bare heads are 150.00 ea with 25.00 shipping ea.

Cost me 350.00 total for the set.

They did offer complete heads also for 229.00 ea. I have new Comp springs and new seals already so I seen no reason to pay for stuff I wasnt going to use.

Well I went ahead and ordered a set of Pacesetter Headers for it today.

I know,I know....Pacesetter makes junk. I aint into the whole shiny chrome/stainless/high temp coatings for a set of headers goin on a daily driver. If they rust, they rust. As long as they dont leak.I just cant see chokin this motor up with these stock manifolds after putting a good cam and head combo on it.

Thinkin about getting rid of the 265 Buckshots and maybe puttin some 245's back on it then go hunt down some Mustangs once its done

Just got back my heads today!

A heads up to anyone buyin the bare castings....all the guides had to be reamed because they were all on the tight side.

So my buddy did:
Reamed guides
Cut spring pockets down to get spring install heigth correct
Installed Comp 988 springs with new seals
cleaned up cambers
did mild port clean up in intake and exhaust ports, didnt remove much metal
contoured port roof around guides
got rid of all sharp edges around seat inserts
reworked short side radius
did 5 angle valve job using my old valves

All for 200.00 turned around in less than 24hrs.

As of tonite the Comp422 is in,lifters are back in,new timing chain, gears and tensioner and brand new waterpump are all buttoned up.

As soon as I figure out what I need to do with this cam syncro crap I can bolt the heads down and get some pushrods ordered.

As of today top of motor is all bolted up. Took measurement for pushrods today and came up with 5.55" and called Smith Bros for new ones. Also found my rocker arms are junk. I found the end that rides the valve tips were trashed with DEEP holes wore into them. Called DEltaCams and bought their shaft essemblies for 130.00 and everything including my PaceSetter headers will be here on Weds.

Im dyn to see how it runs! I just pray the stock ECM,injectors and MAF will play nice with the new motor.

I figure by next saturday it should be running again and then I can load it up on the trailer and drop it off at my buddies trans shop. I have 1500.00 left in my Ranger Fund to finish this turd so I hope that covers all the trans damage.

I dont even wanna think how much I have put into this truck this time around.

Plus I still wanna buy a set of Treadwright A/T tires, new AVM's,new front bumper and fix the pancaked passenger side body work.

Well it turns out PaceSetter keeps pushing the ship date on my headers back every week so now they say it will be July before I see em if they dont get pushed back even more before then. I canceled the order and will look into a different brand later after I get it back on the road.

The motor is all buttoned up tonite, wiring is all plugged in and in the morning all I need are 4 new studs for my exhaust manifolds, new plugs since Autozone sold me the wrong set and put all the A/C and cooling crap back on and I should have it running by lunch.

I frickin stoked! I wanna hear this thing sooo bad. Here are some lame pix.

SmithBros 5.55 pushrods.

Delta Cams rebuilt rocker shafts.

Something I would advise is anytime you pull a valvecover off one of these motors take the time to pull the rocker shafts off also to inspect them for wear. With 130k on my motor my rocker arms were toast. Not only were the pockets for the pushrods wore bad but the tips that ride on the valve tips were wore even worse!

These were the best pair of all of them.

At 3:00 pm Sunday afternoon with ONE twist of the key my motor fired up for the first time in a long *** time!!

I couldnt believe that on the first try it fired right up and settled into a nasty sounding idle. There will be no mistaking this as a stock 4.0 anymore! I still need to bolt the Y-pipe back up so its kinda loud right now and Im outa time for today to finish it.

All I have to do is change the oil and filter tomorrow, put new O2's in,bolt up exhaust and recharge the A/C and then I load it up on the trailer for its trip to the trans shop on Weds.

I can wait to drive it again. I really miss driving this truck! Gonna be nice to have a nice comfy, quiet, decent looking truck with cold A/C to drive everyday.

Now Im debating how far I will go with the exterior. It needs both passenger side doors fixed, tailgate is rusting, needs front bumper and the rims need a good rubbing.

Should I go so far as to repaint it and maybe do a 01+ Edge conversion??

BTW, here is the interior after I put it all back in. Not bad for being flooded up to the cup holders with creek water last time I drove it.

And for your listening enjoyment......

The first one is only the third time I have started it today after sitting about 4 hours.
The second is just continued after my camera shut off after the first 60 secs.
*keep in mind this is with no Y-pipe or O2's hooked up yet*

When I checked Jegs on Friday those were back ordered also with a ship date around first week of July also. I might end up with those anyway just not for a while.

Oh this is too funny to me.

Made some phone calls today and it turns out the guy I was wheelin with the day I killed my truck last year is in the middle of opening his own trans shop. He couldnt believe my truck has been sitting broken for over a year now and after I told him I just got it running again he made me a pretty sweet deal.

Since he is lookin to get his name out there for his shop he offered to R&R my trans and do a complete rebuild with new converter for 1200.00 out the door by Friday! By my best estimate thats a good 800-1000.00 savings over every other place I have checked into.

He knows how I drive and wheel so he figures if people know Im using one of his rebuilds and it lasts that should speak volumes for his shop.
