Project "quick" truck

I just had this truck delivered on 8-4-12 I pick ed it up for under $700.00 $686.00 to be exact. It has 5.0 with T-5 with 8.8 out off a 4x4 explorer. It has been setting for 3 years watch me as we turn this street sleeper into an 11 sec truck!

Plans...331 on e85 with Tko 600.

Thanks, I am just itching to start on it, but I already have two other truck projects that I am working on. This weekend I hope to start looking at it to write up a plan of action.

So I had some time to look over the truck, it will fire with gas poured in carb... "bad electronic fuel pump" The carb is on backwards... that made me giggle. The body is fairly straight needs a poorly repair job redone above drivers side roof and the hood needs repainted, frame is dang near perfect (not even surface rust). It does have a 1990s 5.0 with a t-5. The clutch pedal is poorly engineered and I mean Poorly. It also has a 8.8 with posi-trac and 3.73's. My plans are to first replace the fuel pump, install a hydraulic pedal assembly, pull the interior, clean it and re-install it. Install the carb in the correct position and see how the truck runs if it runs well I will run it at the track to get a base line ET and mph. I will then remove the drive train and install my 331 with TKO-600, lower the truck for a better stance, replace the tires with some sticky ones and then go turn 12's. (This same motor set up would runs low 11's on race gas in my 82 Fox body mid 10,s on giggle gas.) I will take this build slow and keep it street-able. A build thread with good pictures will come soon. BTW I have two other trucks that I am building as of now... one is a 78 F150 4x4 and the other is a lifted 1990 ranger.

Finally got Truck in the shop for a few hrs, I installed a old carb I had setting around the shop correctly it was mounted backwards! Yes Backwards. I replaced the inline Holley fuel pump with a used Carter pump. (the Holley had failed). I flushed the tank and the truck did start Yea!, however it has a badly "engineered" clutch drive assembly and sounds like the throw out bearing is bad. My next step will be to collect the parts to convert to a hydraulic set up and replace the clutch and throw out bearing. I want to see if the present drive train is worthy of saving for some other project or to Sell. I have a 400+ hp motor just motor just setting waiting to go in with a TKO 600 five speed.
