Yeah, I'm definitly going for a truck rat rod, so I'm going to keep the nice steelies and knobby tires, I have a feeling it 's going to look sweeeet to have a lowered truck with a sick v8 and big knobbies poking out all over

hahaha dude this is EFFING AWESOME. You need to go post this over on MazdaBscene.com.
I can't wait to see more progress on this. If you want great ideas to help make this truck killer, definetly pop over to MazdaBscene.
Your suspension can go a couple of ways. Most rat roads aren't on air. They're just stupid f*cking low.
You can be weird and bodydrop it with a static drop which would be true rat-rod.
Or you can body drop it and bag it.
Or just bag it with no body drop.
Or go cheap and just static drop it.
Get some steelies and white walls and you're rockin.
If you need to for local laws, use trailer fenders on the front wheels.

Ok, sorry for the low quality, I took these on an iMac. The cab is all chopped down and ready for some bondo work. I'm going to use foam pipe insulation as a mold to make a nice mold to fiberglass and bondo over all the gaps around the cab. I'm going to trim down the firewall. After that, the engine is going to finally get pulled out, and the cab is going to move back somewhere between 18 and 24 inches. That'll make plenty of room to mount a v8 and having the wheels way out front. Once the cab is moved back, I can mount the v8 and get a tranny, mount it, and I'll be able to drive it while I work on it. :)
