Mid-Travel Prerunner Project

I'm going to get and save all of the parts to install in the spring...after the winter is over. I will keep updating as I get parts in.

Any comments are appreciated to better my project.

Mid-Travel / performance & function upgrades:

Glassworks fiberglass fenders, colormatch painted. Here's pics of them on the truck, to mount and drill mounting holes before paint.

32x11.5 Yokohama a/t's
(ON)

Camburg 4x4 front shock upgrade with Fox reservior shocks and limit straps.
(INSTALLED)

New front rubber bump stops.
(INSTALLED)

Sport-Trac leaf springs.
(COMING SOON)

Flip leaf spring shackle hanger and move hanger back on frame rail...install new shackles.
(HAVE KARTEK DROP FLIP SHACKLE HANGER, NEED SHACKLE)

Reservoir rear shocks and limit straps.
(NEED - ONCE I FIGURE NEEDED SPECS AFTER SPRINGS ARE ON)

Weld new spare tire crossmember in order to make new rear shock mounting system to make more room for required longer shocks.
(SOON)

Pull bedsides, and possibly cut rear angle when I install new bumper.
(PULLED BEDSIDES, NO CUTTING YET)

Hella 4000's.
(INSTALLED)

Weld new tabs onto bumper to mount Hella 500's too.
(COMPLETE)

Make switchplate in cab for lights.
(COMPLETE)

Bed-Mount spare tire mount. (I'm ordering an extra tire and wheel since the oem spare is too small)
(INSTALLED)

Toolbox bolted inside bed. I want more weight in there for the rear and want to get some weight out of the cab. I put my oem bottle jack in there with the poles and some tools and straps.
(COMPLETE)

Tranny Crossmember
(WILL FAB UP SOON)

Cool air intake so I have a "real" intake instead of custom-made ones.
(NEED)

Possible other upgrades:

Custom fab rear prerunner bumper.

New used rear axle with limited slip.

The performance parts are not really justified since I will not be using it anywhere possible to get the real use out of the truck. I know that the parts on my truck are worn and could replaced, and i'd rather spend a few extra bucks, or possibly save some, by putting on sweet, performance parts. I really do want to move to California but can't plan on that in the near future. I'm looking to better the ride and overall performance of the truck, as well as "rep" the dezert lifestyle in the north-east.

Very Nice can't wait to see what the out come will look like! I like those Glassworks fenders. Are they easy to install? Was thinking about getting some my self but I don't know what the heck I want my truck to be! Are you going to go with an Explorer 8.8 or get a Level 2 Axle? Subscribed!

Correct, only shocks and limit straps to work with the shocks. I'll probably upgrade the rubber bump stops also, but nothing major.
I do want the Dixon Bros long travel 4x4 kit but the cost is out of my range right now.

The bumper is pretty huge haha, it's real sweet. It does look big on it without glass fenders and bigger tires, but once the fenders are painted and on for good and I get 32's it will look much more in place.

The fenders are easy to install...you just set them in place, drill a few holes larger than the bolts so you can adjust the fender around, tighten and loosen the bolts until you find the right adjustment, drill more holes where the rest of the bolts go and it's done. It's pretty easy to line up the gaps in the door jamb and hood too, the fenders are built very well to fit the truck's lines.

About the axle...chevyslayer925 is actually setting me up with that. I believe it's just an 8.8 with 4.10's and he's putting a L/S in it. I'm not sure what kind. I will update when I get more info on that too.

Because I love desert trucks. I don't go mudding any more or 4x4'ing enough to build a lifted with 44's style truck. I like the looks and function of desert trucks better, even though they're probably generally harder and more expensive to build.
I like to be different and want to turn some heads haha (I already get tons of compliments on the bumper).

It is, but it's just about the only way to go. I'll definitely go for it if I ever get enough money and live somewhere where it would be useful.

I know about Camburg...they don't have any 4x4 setups though. I'll think about it in the future if I decide to switch to 2wd.

Nope, the bumper does not hinder the headlights at all. It's just enough away. You'll see it eventually haha.
