Beefed up the diff support bracket from superlift from my cv failures it looks to be the diff shifting toward the passenger side the over extends the driver side cv fusing it to separate and break

Nice work on the bracket. Hope it helps extend the life of your replacement CVs.

Unfortunately CV joints often don't stand up well in lifted applications. The increased angle is really hard on them. Too bad the Thompson Coupler is still under patent... otherwise we'd start making really sick offroad CV joints :)

It's actually not an angle issue that I am fighting it's was a translational issue, and a slotted hole from wear issue. The superlift does a good job maintaining the factory cv geometry but does not hold the diff nearly as secure as the rcd.

I broke both cvs in reverse which when torque is applied shifted the diff to the passenger side over extending the joint and causing the failure. The stock superlift bracket was not stiff enough for my application and would slide in its mounting hole on the bump stop bracket under heavy load.

This should fix the issue but time will tell for sure. Thompson joints would be nice though :)

I've always wondered about those diff drop brackets from superlift.. Glad to see you came up with an idea to keep the diff from moving side to side.

@mikerider (and anyone else interested)

If you plan to go to a higher boost... check out our new "step-by-step" tuning blog. This is actually applicable for all custom supercharger/turbo installs and even naturally aspirated mods that could use some extra power/tweaking.

Spent a week camping boating and wheeling in Wenatchee, got to explore some great areas and avoided a ton of traffic taking FS roads instead of the mountain passes.

Give Mike at C4x4 a call and talk to him about shipping options mine only ran around $100 to get across the country not sure what duty would be but the can be bought unpainted which I would think would mean it is in a lower bracket.

I don't want to rip off mikes hard work but I can get you some mounting pics. maybe find a shop close to the border you can ship to then drive down and install them then drive home.

ya shipping can be a pain, just look at the bright side even after 325 in shipping the bumper is still cheaper then your standard run of the mill ARB

Check out this thread...

https://www.ranger-forums.com/fabric...inally-140408/

Might help on the pictures.

C4x4 makes great bumpers, quality is top notch, steel thickness is heavy duty not some of the thin stamped stuff.

He made me a rear bumper for my stepside also, can only say great work by Mike.

Shipping, anyway to pick it up at the border somehow, a friend, maybe a site member ?

Here is the rear bumper thread, a lot of picture carried over but you will get the jest.

https://www.ranger-forums.com/fabric...x4-fab-136698/

Luck

Added:
The SuperLift Lift Kits do a good job on the CV alignment the only thing I noticed missing were the two rear support to stop the front and rearward motion of the dropped carriage assembly.
Shadow 90? Made the Coil Over Brackets and also made some of the rear bars and brackets, he did great work.

Great thanks for the info and pictures god it looks good UHg hate living In canada for things like this. On the lift side of things I don't want a huge ammount of lift but don't want to crank the bars much because the ride is stiff as it is at stock height couldn't imagine cranked.
Appreciate the help guys

finally wired a 220 out let this weekend so I can burn 1/4in thick metal with a single pass. I celebrated by fixing my coilover brackets, I have never been happy with the bolt location/ 1.25 width and shock angle, so I fixed all that.

old bushing was shot from not having enough shoulder on the bushing

proper 1.5in spacing and in line with the upper mount.

one side is painted and installed ned to do the other side tomorrow.

It's not bad and work fine but it wears bushings and misalignment spacers quick

did the other side yesterday, it was not in any better shape

what the old and new bushings look like.

tacked the tabs in place, installed the bushing in the shock then alinged it all in place and tack welded so everything is lined up perfect.

welding (pic makes this look off but tabs are perfectly inline)

Starting to look much better

also got a free hose reel from a friend and modified my welding cart. not pretty but pretty functional
