That is where the pad slides. The pads will be indexed to follow those guides. Both sides should have the silver metal pieces that are visible on the right hand side of yours. If yours does not have the metal pieces on both sides, you can buy a rebuild kit for fairly cheap ($20.00 or less as I recall). The rebuild kit should include 4 of the silver metal slides and 4 of the rubber boots for the caliper mount bolts. I replaced all four of my rubber boots when I refurbished my calipers.

Rear tire carrier/bumper
Time for an update:
I added a rear tire carrier/bumper. The weight of 40'+ of tubing and 2-35" spares makes a huge difference in getting the rear end to cycle properly. I think it turned out pretty good. The design will allow for me to use the full bed if necessary (minus the spares of course).
Next up 20MM ammo cans as tool/equipment boxes...

Not much more. One of these days, I will shoot some pictures with the tires pulled out. It is the absolute truth, however that tubing does not go very far.

Nothing special. MB Wheels (Discount Tire) Model 72, 17"X8.5" 4" backspace. Best of all for a cast wheel, they are rated similar to most other non forged wheels but only cost $98.00/ea. My first 4 came with a $50.00 rebate, so $350 for 4 wheels!

looks great. how they feel compared to the stock seats?
My initial reaction is that it is much harder to get in and out of the truck because of the side bolsters. The side bolsters also make the seat a bit less comfortable than the stock seats. On the flip side, the bolsters make you feel much more stable in the car while cornering or traveling along a rough trail.

Not too bad. I had to drill two new holes (one per side) on the slider to match the holes on the seat, but the width was perfect. As for the base, two holes matched perfect, one hole needed to be expanded to fit the Ranger bolt, and one hole needed to be notched out because the hole did not line up. I will be welding on a new tab for the hole that needed to be notched out.

I am actually starting to get used to them. Although I still have not figured out a good way to get into the truck without sliding over the bolster. I wish that my truck had an OS handle on the drivers side.
