Its not so much of a lean in the rear as it is in the front... that's the problem really..

So I talked to my buddy with the 4wd shop... he suggested adding another leaf to that drivers side pack to help level it out

that sounds like the best/easy way to do it, if there is more weight on one side you would want a stiffer leaf on that side
with the added weight on the stiffer side it will flex about the same as the side with less weight

truck looks awsome, congrats

Take a look at Trevor's truck. Do you think after all the stuff he's done and the way he's done them that he'll settle for an uneven truck? I highly doubt it lol

I was just going to suggest that after reading beards post. I think that would do you a lot mroe good than running a block under there.

I think you should stop infecting one of the cleanest build threads on the forums with your rusted out not-even-half-assed pile of **** LWG.

yeah an extra leaf would be a quick fix for sure. And it would retain the arch you lost to the weight and also fairly cheap. Just make sure its another larger/longer leaf so that it will hold the weight but flex better than another stubby added to the bottom.

lol.. I think you can get some made by fab shops online. They would have to be kinda like what mine are in the rear. just a custom metal wrap with a bolt instead of the stock folded one.

That's what I'm gonna do, Andy. Now I just have to find another leaf to throw in the pack. Gonna go to my gear guy tomorrow and see what he has for leafs that are 2-1/4" wide, which isn't too common. Problem is, I need to find something with the same amount of lift he says, or it's more so just going to be a spacer rather than stiffer up my actual pack.

He also said what I could do is find another leaf even if it's too wide and where those spring retainers wrap around the leafs, just come in with a grinder and notch out where those retainers would sit on the new leafs and be good to go that way. Said he's done it several times before, and his samurai he's built up is like that and has had no problems.

So, glad to know what my options are.

sounds like you are on the right rack with some help to boot. yeah just go with those straps, but have the bolt closer to the leafs maybe

I just saw some of those leaf wrap things for sale online somewhere yesterday. An aftermarket suspension company made them. Wish I could remember.

I gotta say Trevor, when you first posted pics of your truck on the wheels, I had my doubts about that forward axle placement, but now that I understand what you were going after, I understand it better and have to say CONGRATS MAN! Looks pretty good...

Now scrap those leafs and coilover that b*tch! lol j/k

GB :)

Not gonna lie, for ride quality (among other things), it's already crossed my mind... lol

Well it's been awhile since I updated everyone... So tonight I stopped over at my gear guys shop and BS'd with him about what to do about my lean and running a panhard down the road. Anyways, he had an older AAL with some miles on it in his shop and said try this out. What you're going for with this isn't so much the ride height (by putting in the leaf pack), but more so to stiffen up that drivers side rate. By doing so you're going to gain lift yes, but ratio wise, your spring rates should equal out on both side, with the AAL in the drivers side to compensate for the lean and added weight.

With that said, we tore into it tonight. Bent back the spring retainers on the TG springs, pulled the pack apart, and put the AAL above the 3rd leaf from the bottom (it's a longer AAL too), ground down a new center pin to fit in the perch, and then cinched down the springs and bent the retainers back over the leafs. Then set it all back down, and the drivers side sat maybe 1/4" taller than the passenger side, which was perfect, because with a driver in it, it sits damn near level even will a full tank of fuel. So I took it out for a test drive after that, and noticed no difference in spring rates, especially going through his field and bumps and what not to see if it was going to ride like a cement truck. This all worked out perfect because my shackles are at max 2-3* difference in angle at ride height. PERFECT!

So tomorrow the frame gets undercoated and axle gets some gloss paint and what not. One thing I have left to do that I haven't done yet (aside from grinding on the bottom side of the frame, which I doubt I'll do, laying on the ground grinding over head isn't exactly fun... at all. So i cleaned it up as best as I could to the eye) is take a flapper wheel to the rear axle where the old shock tabs used to be. Once I do that, I'll be cleaning up everything and shooting it all with new paint. Panhard is on the list soon, just have to wait for more funds to order up some heims for it so it's adjustable. Then dial in the alignment and steering wheel; love having dead on camber! The reason there's rust on stuff in the pics is from the day I took it home, well it rained over night... Bare metal and water, dont' get along lol...

Onto the pics!

According to Shane, he said he can park next to me, and the bottom of my mirror sits above the top of his mirror, and he's doubled on 35's.... If that gives people an idea of how big it is/isn't (however you wanna look at it lol)...

Thanks Fiddes!

Surprisingly, it's not bad at all... It's like they all said, it's a different kind of handling. Yeah it doesn't corner anymore for **** really, but it doesn't drive horrible or ride sh!ty at all. It rides like a SAS'd rig should!

if i were you, since your shackles are at such an angle.....seeing as they seem kinda close to your frame, id flex it out to see if it will hit the frame....and if it does you could throw some lil bumpstops on it to suppress noise n protect things some.

Maybe slightly larger BS on the next set of rims, and throwing a sway-bar on should help the cornering tho.
Straight line going well and it not tracking one way or the other is really good tho! I know some of the other guys had those problems when they did theres
