Other than that I think the swap would have been much easier if you would have swapped the whole harness and PCM. Then have the dealer deal with the PATS BS.
We would've not been able to start the truck with the manual PCM because of the PATS BS.

Plus he doesn't have an Xcal.

The dealer could have sorted all that out.

I have a link but on Ebay they sell PATS override modules that fool the pats into thinking there is a matching key in there.

Another option would have been snag the pats keys and module from the junk yard.

Where is the PATS module located on the truck?

I believe its in the CSM behind the passenger side air bag. IF you look into the LED lock mod it describes where its at.

If your still not sure I have a wiring diagram at home and i will look it up.

The way I understand it, this module will make the PCM think it's not a PATS system/make it think it has the correct key in the ignition, and will allow the truck to start with the manual PCM?

I'm learning...bear with me. lol.

Well from what I read if you put in the manual PCM it doesnt think the current keys are right because the PCM and PATS system do not match.

So if you put this module in with the PATS override system then it should make the PCM think its correct. Of course this is all theory. lol

I am going to have to use one of those override things because I dont have but 1 navigator key and we are going to use the Ranger keys ranger pats system and the Navigator PCM.

Even in your situation if you got the pats module from the ranger in the junkyard and took it into ford they should be able to crack the pats code, rewrite the code on the keys to match the manual PCM and the Manual PCM PATS module to all be correct and you will be good to go.

I'm thinking of doing the opposite you have done, a Manual to Auto swap in my 02' XLT Supercab 4.0.

What are your thoughts on the difficulty of this? And if any of your parts will work in mine?

From what I understand, I will need:

Auto Trans
Steering column/shifter
Pedal Assy
PCM & Wiring harness

Anything else I'm missing?

I'm still surprised there isn't more info on these PATS bypass things, it would probably make the EFI 302 swap sooo much easier too.

Great. Ok so that will fix the manual PCM problem. Now all I have to fix is what 2 sensors that aren't plugged in.

I know 1 is reverse and one is speed. So if anyone can help me... Can I cut the pigtails on my auto harness, put in the pigtails from the manual trans I pulled today and match the correct colors to the manual trans sensors?

Thanks for the help Jusin... It's getting better so far!

So with the manual PCM, I'll have the rev limiter removed right?

Oh and for those that wanna know... I got the interior pieces for the passenger air bag and ash tray today. $10. $10 for another one in tan (For Shane) and $5 for the floor piece that goes on the inspection plate. Oh and toolbox mod FTW on a 08 Superduty 3rd brake light with comparisons on the differences.

Trevor....

I think if you get that manual PCM issue resolved, that will resolve all issues and will allow you to swap in that manual harness and plug plug plug and everything will work as though it was my truck. Should be normal.

BUT...that also brings something else up.... IF you do end up doing what's now being talked about, would you still be able to drive the truck with the auto harness still in the truck before you swap in the auto harness?? There's the OSS on the tailhousing, and there's the sensor up by the shift rails. WOULD it run and function properly if the manual PCM is in the truck, gets the PATS issue resolved, and leaves the auto harness in the truck?? I think it would run, but you won't be able to shift it into 4L.

*no pigtails on the auto harness 'clips' to the manual trans sensors.

Right we found that out. What I'm saying is cut my pigtails I have that would go to those sensors and put in the pigtails for the manual trans and clip those in to the sensors on the tranny... With the Manual PCM coded to my PATS keys.

I just need the color coding for wires on my harness and the color codes on the manual harness so I can match them up.

^^^ HAHAH

Anyways, Justin... If I run the manual PCM with the PATS system coded to my keys, can I run the automatic harness and not plug in the sensors just yet until I find out the fix?

Yeah that's for the GPS. I didn't want it on the front. Wanted it on the rear and it goes through the 3rd and routes along the liner up top, down the a-pilar and across (behind the dash) to the D3. Thanks though Matt!

Ok so coming off my harness that would have gone to the tranny it looks like this

One plug:

Gray/Red
Gray/Orange

The other plug:

Gray/Red
Blue/Yellow

Now can I cut the manual harness I got today up and use the plugs off it and match it to these color and have my speed sensor and reverse work?
