2000 Ranger 4wd

I lost my only key to my 2000 Ranger, so I swapped the key cylinder and key from a 1999 parts truck. I get lights and the steering unlocks, but it will not start and the anti theft light is on. Can someone help me? Thanks

The coded key will have to be reprogrammed by a dealer i pad $160 to have a second key cut and programmed. Although in your case it would probably be cheaper to buy a new lock cylinder from ford most dealers will program it for free if you buy the cylinder from them and you will get two new keys with it and they can order it precut to match your door locks using the VIN. Im pretty sure the cost of the cylinder would be only a bit more than programming and you won't have to use 2 keys or you could program the one and swap the door lock cylinders form that truck as well.
