What is happening to the site ? - IB's response post #63

First we are getting loaded with ads !

Then we are getting loaded with SPAM !

Now I am being told I don’t have permission to do this or that !

WHAT’S UP with this place, are we going to the DOGS ?

Also, I got a cancelation on the site auto subscription pay from PayPal, WTF… if you don’t need my money then I am not going to worry about it.

what is going on, are there that many changes in the back ground that are affecting the overall performance of this site ?

Things need to get better when new guys take over not worse !

I got a cancellation notice too, but I didn't get a refund and my contributor status is the same.

I didn't expect ads to show up for level 3 contributors, that was a nice perk.

I also expected with new severs would be the end of double posts, but they are worse now.

It seems like Admin activity has dropped dramatically, there has been poor communication between them and the rest of us.

I hope issues are being addressed in the background, and if they aren't the staff should have a good explanation.

You got the subscription cancellation because of the change of ownership. If you continued to pay the same vendor as last year's contribution you would have been paying Rick, not IB.

As far as the site performance issues, I know zilch about it. Same as you.

Are we going to the dogs? To be brutally honest, it sure looks that way.

Admin activity has dropped dramatically no doubt about that. Poor communication? Definitely.

The measly 120 users in the last 24 hours is explanation enough about the direction of the site. The ad revenue of those 1000 or so guests on at any given time is likely more important than the experience of long time, well established, and even paying members.

Yeah the ads for the level 3 contributors defiantly was a surprise for me as well. I won't be contributing again as the main reason I did was to get rid of the ads.

And the servers are really slow these last 6 months or so, that's why my activity here has slowed down and probably the reason why others no longer visit here.

I'm not seeing the ads but I do agree the site doesn't seem the same. I also haven't gotten a PayPal cancelation. At least no emails regaurding this. I haven't logged into my PP in a while tho.

I have always tried to stay active on this site. I really enjoyed this place early in my tenure. It had a nice balance of maturity (and immaturity), tech info, and original builds.

I'd hate to abandon this site, there is still a lot of potential with newer members building sweet rigs. We just need to draw them in and keep them.

Its a shame that the site has turned into what it has. I learned alot from this site and put a lot of time in here. Would love to see the activity back to what it was a couple years ago.

Yup. Agreed.

Another dead horse is stickers, I'm still waiting for when I renewed, now that I think about it, I might have gotten that email when I did renew last time.

I'd be willing to be the Canadian sticker guy, I have some old font ones (the good ones) and I could price out a batch.
Heck I could also be the American one too since my proximity to the Detroit is so close.

Another thing that I've noticed is that a lot of the members here during the busy years were in their late teens/early 20's

As the years went on, Rangers got sold, traded, parked, or wrecked. Members moved on to other vehicles, or just had priorities changed.

I met one the original beta testers of this site during the Fun Ford Weekend, he hasn't been on in years, but knows his 2001 Ranger inside and out. He helped develop the original OHC mod.

Some guys know these trucks well enough that they don't need to browse the forums anymore.

But that shouldn't mean we can't draw new members, or at least make newer guys more active.

Unfortunately this is how IB works. They take over, fill the site with ads, charge vendors a shitload of money to advertise the products that forum members actually want and do nothing to maintain membership. They soak the site for all the $$ they can and let it die. Honestly they arent much worse than the last owner though, he didnt give a damn about the forum either, it was just a business to him too. The reason this site was so awesome at first is the same reason F R F is so big now, it was owned and run by a Ranger enthusiast, not someone trying to get rich. It is sad to see whats happened to this place.

Things are a chang’n !

But why are they getting worse, less people, less revenue from members, if the little problems were to be fixed, it might help to generate the memberships interest again.

As has been stated either here or in other threads… the double posting and then not knowing if the post actually went through, the slowing down of the site, the messages saying you do not have permission to be some where in the site, to me it is little the little things.

Why since the new ownership are these things happening ?
I would thing IF you want to keep the members you have and want more you need to improve things not just let it go.

I hope the higher powers are listening, a lot of members, who want to stay and get help also want to get answers to their own problems.

As far as losing members if you only came on board to get an answer to problem then I guess you got it and left but a lot of us are here to be part of a bigger group of member, as a community of Ranger Owners.

Well, I am talking too much as always and I do want this site to continue BUT we need improvements, we need a faster site, no automatic double postings and the site need to get its main revenue from advertisers that have Ford related products not just anything that happens along, if I need to look at ads they had better be from Ford or Ford Products.

It appears there is a lot of members that are also dissatisfied with this site and the new ownerships running of thins; please let get it together and make the site better than it was.

Also, I for one do not just come here for help from other members, of which I get a lot and think you guys, I like to think some of what I know and the time I put in on the site is going to help another member or two.

Thanks for listening… post up guys post your problems with the site and let the new ownership know what we think.

Yeah it is a shame, because other forums like The Ranger Station seem to cater to 97 and older rigs and I find this forum has lots of 98+ generation ranger builds. That's way more helpful to me than what billy bob did with his bronco II

Taylor, I don't want them I was just making a point.

This site needs to leave greedy hands and get back into enthusiasts hands. I agree with the comment about younger owners selling cus they have outgrown their trucks. I'm lucky, my gf has a journey and even though I have looked at upgrading in the past, I don't need to. If we were to have a family tomorrow she has hers and I'd teach her stick so in the case of an emergency we could switch if needed.

Stickers when you sign up are good but every time, should be as needed for advertising purposes and should be free.

Problem we need better performance rather than more stickers, l we need more site maintenance, not more sticker and we need more participation by site members not more stickers... If you get my point.

They can keep the stickers and the free advertisement we supply them, all we need is a better, faster, problem free site, that is what will keep me here longer, IF I happen to sell my Ranger, that is IF they want me/us as members and they want our money.

Should we be waiting for the Admins to chime in?

I would like specific concerns addressed.

Moderators can't perform site maintenance, which is a big issue.

I guess I missed that post Pedro
