Any chance an aditional text field could be added to the member profiles. I've noticed that signatures are once again getting a little out of control. I'm as guilty as anyone and would like to replace my non-truck related crap w/ a simple note like "See profile for list of toys". I feel the OT discussions we seem to have lately warrent the information being part of my profile, but not neccesarily part of my sig..

Maybe a multi-line 'comment about yourself' type field that is part of the user's profile page would be useful for this extra information. Then we could encorage people to keep the sigs short and put the extra crap in that section of the profile?!

For users who have a large signature, this is how you make it smaller.

Edit your signature, then add the following tags:

[code]<size=1> SIGNATURE BLAH BLAH
1999 Ranger
Mods and stuff
</SIZE>
[/code]
Replace the < and > with [ and ] and it'll work.

For reference:
This is Size 2
This is Size 1

Center is a good tag to use too, as seen in Zach's signature.
P.S. You don't have to post a new post to see your signature, once you save your sig, ALL of your pre-existing posts will be updated. So have two windows up and use the refresh button to see how your sig changes would look in the "real world"

 

If I remember correctly, vBulletin will let you (the admins) to add fields in the profiles somewhere in the ACP.

why don't you guys post some ideas as to what you want to see in there...

Or use the 'preview' button on the page where you edit the sig. I find that's more than enough personally..
Glad you (and others) agree. Not sure what you mean by ideas for what to put in the profile, but I was thinking I'd move everything about the bike and camera crap over to that profile text section, then add a simple note under the truck definition that says "see profile for bike/camera/whatever". Then when someone's wondering what I ride or what I shoot w/ in an off topic discussion, they could get that info right away, yet I still wouldn't pollute Ranger discussions w/ pointless OT crapola.. Yah dig?!

But as an aside, the name is 'Colin' .. Just one 'l'!

 

I'm working hard on this board to keep it short. I have so many mods now, I can't possibly reasonably list all of them in my signature. Even my Cardomain site is not up to date on my mods in a couple of places. Oh well.
