Classifieds Section: Unneeded banter/posts
BUMP!
Read this post and this thread...we already need another reminder. We do not want moderated classifieds section again... Keep your opinions on price out of someones ad(for example, four used wheels for 200 when you can get 'em brand new for 200).
Also....when posting a thread, READ THE RULES FIRST!!! I'm starting to just delete threads without location in the title. I'm saying this to help you!
Thank you.
Hey people.
I know alot of you might not have been around when the classifieds were completely shut down due to ads getting out of hand by people posting jibberish and filth in replys. Unneeded B.S. Then, they opened back up after a couple month hiatis, but was 100% monitored. Each and everypost in classified ads were 'approved' by a Mod, and it made it hard to get the info the prospective buyer wants. A while later, we get a new server, and we are now able to post in classified ads at free will and it'll post right up.
People, PLEASE stop the rediculous banter in the classifieds ads....Opinions on someones wheels are not needed and shouldn't be there. They are NOT a normal thread where you could and should post opinions and such. If people continue to add filth and unneeded posts to the classified ads, our privilege to post at will COULD and WOULD be taken away. When we wern't allowed to sell anything or post a wanted ad her, IT SUCKED! When we got the privileges back, IT SUCKED!
Think before you post in the Classified ads.
Thank you
Shane

Well said...I've been noticing this on the rise also.
Maybe some people are making the mistake of clicking on a recent thread from the "home" section and just not realizing the post they're reading/replying to is in the classified section? I've almost made that mistake on a few occasions but I always proof/double check before clicking the reply button and have always caught my mistake.

IMO, if the ad is lacking information, I like to post a reply....for example.....K&N intake for 2001 4.0. I'd add: Heads up for the prospective buyer, this intake will work on all 01-03 4.0L engines.
Thats acceptable in my eyes.
Commenting on how ugly a set of wheels or tires are, is unacceptable....it's an opinion.

thanks for posting that Shane.
I felt the users could handle it themselves, by being responsible, so i turned it off. The time thing isnt an issue.

Thanks Beard for moving it....at first I was like "holy crap! am I a mod now? what!!??!?!". lol. OK...well it wasn't me, it was the person I was on the phone with when I was told about the thread move. haha.
Question: I remember back in the day, when people post links to ebay auctions or other automobile ads that are not of the OP's, Are those threads to be treated like any other 'passing this along' threads including comments and such? Or should those threads be posted elsewhere? If so, what section?
For Example: Currently, there's a 2003 Twin Stick Fx4 for sale, and a link to it's Craigslist ad.
I wonder if it is possible to create a new subsection of the classifieds listed as 'passing this along(links to ebay auctions or craigslist or autotrader ads)' or something similar??
idk...just something I've thought about.
