Just wanted to post up for future reference.

Went to Summit Racing and picked up a Dynomax cat-back system to replace the one destroyed by a 10 ft long board in the insterstate. I bought the #WLK 17315 for my 99 2.5.


-Great exhaust
-great price
-nice quality
-installation was simple
-sounds great, deep and quiet
-plenty of extra slack to hang it exactly where you want it
-nice stainless tip
-all harware and gaskets included

I highly reccomend this cat-back system.

Just wondering I looked at the exhaust, they have a $163 and a $200 one, whats the difference?

 

thats probably for JUST the muffler. One is stainless (the expensive one) and one is aluminized.

 

This one is aluminized and has a nice stainless tip. Put about 500 miles on it this week and it still sounds nice and deep, but not loud at all. (what I wanted)

 

Prices vary by cab style. Super Cab systems are cheaper from Dynomax than regular cab systems. I guess the Super Cab systems are just more common. The kit for my 2001 regular cab was $190 or so, but the kit for my 2002 Super Cab is $163.

I was very happy with the Dynomax Super Turbo system on my 2001 Ranger. Very good quality, excellent value, very easy installation, and a great sound even for an I4. Also, it was the only modification that made a noticeable improvement in fuel economy. I averaged a consistent 2 MPG better than stock with it.

I had the dynomax on my sohc, the muffler just did not impress me, so I scrapped the dynomax muffler and went with a magnaflow. Im much happier with the sound

I have the dynomax exhaust also and I really like it. It's not to loud and doesn't drone much on the highway but you can still hear it.Here's a crappy video just to get an idea...

bolt on my snow white *** .... do i just clamp the pipes to the muffler or what?

 

aight read the instructions better now it makes sense ... hopefully will have this on by saturday or so thats when i can get to a garage, damn the rain and my dirt driveway.

 

installing tommorow friend is letting me use his works lift so i dont have to do it in my muddy *** driveway

 

got it on and if i wanted a stock sounding exhaust i would have kept the stock one hopefully it gets a little louder once it breaks in but im not holding my breath

furthermore, could anyone get the back of their stock pipe off without cutting it? Cause i couldnt.

 

Sure you can remove the stocker with out cutting it, I'm getting pretty good at it too.

1. Remove spare tire.

2. Jack up rear of truck at hitch area (not the rear axle) This lifts the weight of your truck off the suspension and gives you some room to work.

3. Unbolt at flange and remove stock exhaust.

4. Works great!

 

Most everyone knows the dynomax exhaust is pretty quiet for our trucks. A search could have shown you that before you bought it. You can always just change out the muffler

Melt, I'd never kick yah while your down....I've had my fare share of exhaust systems on my truck and still can't find the one I like.

Each time I sold them on Ebay and turned out alright.

yea i think ill ebay the muffler when i get one to replace it

although i read on a titan board a guy had flows then put dynomax on and was getting better mpg with the dynomax and as much as i would like the sound my main reason for doing this was gas miles.

 

i had a dynamax on my old 00, I4 motor, it was quite and once it broke in it was decent still quiet compared to my current exhaust, i wouldnt mind just ordering the pipes from them minus the muffler
