2cents on Midsize Chevy

I just want to give some advice for those thinking of purchasing or wondering how the newer S10 / Blazers compare to the Rangers. In my experience and as a previous GM guy, I have found that they really dont measure up to the ranger. There is a reason we dont see too much of them in 4 wheel drive magazines. The ball joints Constantly go bad even without off roading- such as driving over potholes, gravel, etc. High maintenance, example my fuel pump needed replaced, and the new one continued to go bad in 8 months needing half of the fuel components replaced to retain the warranty. I took mine in after a brief, and somewhat easy drive through the woods to find out that the axle, control arm, ball joints upper and lower, and pitman arm needed replacing along with a few other things(recalling from memory). Unfortunately they just dont hold up well for people who actually use their vehicles. It had a realatively easy life too as my mom had it since the low miles(34k) before I bought it to drive to AK before I traded it at 74k. I will always be a spokesman for the old Scottsdales and Silverados, but was disappointed in my 99 4wd Blazer LS 2door. I dont know what exactly they changed on the Colorados and Canyons, but I do know my buddy rebuilt a totaled ranger and has dogged it ever since he got his license and it never fails to perform even after endless airtime, reeming, tire burning, and numerous times being stuck. Now I own one. Thanks Bond if you ever read this.

Don't have anything to say about the chevy, but you need to use paragraphs dude.. its hard to read your post when its all crammed up like that.

You'll get a lot more people reading your post if its clean and readable

Buddy of mine thrashed the front end of his ZR2. He was driving on pavement, loud clunk, followed by grinding noise and a harsh vibration. He drove directly to the Ford dealer and traded it for an F-150!

BTW... a week after the paperwork was signed, the Ford dealership called him up and asked why he didn't disclose that the S-10 needed $2000 in front-end work!

i really like chevy and dodge...drove a older caprice for a while...loved it. I drove my dads 1500 chev z71 for a while...i am in love with it. there are a lot of downs to it though

the ride is kinda weird...rough on road...soft off road
the A/C SUCKS SO BAD!!!! my ranger is so much colder and his is an 03
when driving in traffic you get that "exhuast smell" even when the air is on recirculate
it's slow for a 5.3...the f150 is ALOT faster (in the 5.4 or whatever it is)

but...i'm actually a chev guy...i like the look of them better...but they have their problems. And I may turn a new leaf and be a ford boy if i like my ranger enough...i'm still undecided.

i am possibly investing in a full size truck and it's def. between chev/ford. I don't know still....hard decision. Ups/downs to both

Yeah they have a lot of suspension problems. It seems that engines in Chevs lack in power, at least in the trucks. My blazer was all kinds of screwed up, the funny thing is I always babied it. I love my 78 though, its never had a prob after mudding. and yeah they lack in engineering, at least what matters on a vehicle anyways.
