Anyone here hit up Harbor Freight?

I just got back and ended up spending just about $160. I love that place. Everything is pretty cheap. out front i saw a nice little tow rig. thought i would snag a pic or two before he came out.

I picked up a 3 ton jack

some bits and pieces for electrical work, and my DA grinder.
i finally got tired of picking rocks and metal shavings out of my back so i picked up a cheap crawler. for like $18.99 it even came with a little head rest thing.

I have been there a few times....I have picked up little stuff....gloves, tape, electrical connectors, etc. I have always been afraid to buy anything to actually use hard....I have had to many instances where "you get what you pay for" and it has come back on me and cost me even more money....but I love that place, and I am droolin over that tow rig!!!! BTW, are you still running the geolander tires? if so, how are they, as far as offorad, tire wear, mileage, etc...?

i have been to the harbor freight by me a couple times. I mainly but cheap tools for the nachine shop i work in, but the tools seem to hold up fairly well. Every time i go there i can easly drop about 100 bills or more. The only thing is you have to watch what you buy, because some of there stuff is just cheap.

yeah you really do have to be careful, but then again, i still have a 4" angle grinder that i bought from them...what going on 4-5 years ago, that i use all the time and it has never once put up a fuss.

And yes i am still running the geolanders. I can't say enough good things about them. They are quiet on the street and have excellent rain and snow traction. Off road the perform very well. As well as any AT is to be expected. They hold their own in the very light loamy sand that we have all over down here. in the mud they could dig a little more, but they really suprised me as to what they did make it through. Most of the mud here is really slick and full of clay and sand. As of now i have about 10K on them and the wear is great. They seem like they are going to last for awhile. Too bad i kinda wanted to pick up a set of 285's soon. Needless to say though I am a big fan of these tires

I just like to walk in and get ideas for future mods, haha. Actually, I need to go get a creeper, floor jack and jack stands from them at some point. I concur that metal shaving in the back is not a fun experience.

i had bought their cheapo air sockets and have used them and they have worked quite well. Yes one or two stripped but then i replaced them and those were the ones i used alot. FOr a while i repaired forklifts and they were great for working on them
Harbor freight has alot of good deals in the store but if you use the catalogue they kinda get you on shipping.

I used to buy a lot of stuff there, but I found that it was better to buy higher quality stuff to begin with. I still buy small stuff like cutoff wheels, etc.

I've had a field day with out local HF lately. I find it's a good place to pick up tools that I don't need very often and don't want to spend a lot of money on. I also picked up a winch there for the Sammi. Built in the same factory as Ramsey winches... 8000 lbs for $240!

i've never been, but would like to stop in one day if i ever find one near me..

my next door neighbor loves harbor freight. he's a wood worker and always buys smaller hand tools to use. he builds furniture as a hobby and donates things to charity's to auction off, and says their tools do just fine for him.

x200

They're good for getting cheap tools that you don't want to spend 10x as much on somewhere else cause you're only gonna use them a few times. And if they do break, just go buy another replacement.

Their ball-joint/u-joint tool is really good though. I've used mine a ton and it's held up well. For specialty tools they're not too bad.

You know this is a really tough one for me.

On one hand at times you really could use a specialty tool.. but in all honesty don't hardly ever use it. (like a foldable engine lift)

On the other hand.. thier stuff comes from people and places that do not in anyway help my fellow American to keep bread on his table.

I'll admit that I have bought a more than just few things from them. (some problems.. some not) But generally they are those very rarely used specialty tools that you just have to have... and don't want to spend 3 times that amount on for an "American" brand.

When it comes to consumable tools.. like drill bits or tap & die sets. There is NOOOO way thier junk can compair to a nice quality tool.

I am not allowed to go there without my wife being present to talk some sense into me or smack me. On the flip side I have never had a problem with any of there stuff. I just purchased my air compressor from there.

I will find out about the ball joint tool also. I need to do mine and I think I will get the BJ tool and a floor jack w/ jack stands.
